Well I bought a bunch of the binding posts from a guy and as it turns out they are just a "Tad"(10-20%) over sized. So they are not worldcon accurate as the ones from the telegraph set are. They are however about the right size to fit a Rick Ross PKD1 or Magnum.

They also are nickle plated brass and have all the same details so anybody who wants to upgrade their PKD1/Magnum, I would be willing to part with them for about $12 plus shipping each. They are the ones in this photo...

... and even though the photo is blurry they do have the thread/grip patterns and all the other details right. Each one is 1/2 inch wide in circumference, and about 3/4 long when closed down from the end to the base (not including screw).

I finally got a few of these in. Here is a comparison shot showing the vintage WWII binding posts in the Hero Deckard gun size next to the current replicas, and the Larger version of the post that is in perfect scale to Rick Ross's PKD 1 and Magnums...

I have a bunch of the larger sized ones and am still willing to sell those cheap. I am also willing to do a bulk deal for anybody who wants more than one. $12 for one and postage would most likely be about $2 in the US including the padded envelope.

The other hero knobs I only have a couple to spare and am willing to take offers on them.

I know this isn't the shop, so if Amish says move it I will, but in the mean time I am too tired to post the info twice Smile

Sorry, I have already had offers twice that and they cost me a bit more than that to buy the whole unit which they came off of, and now I think I won't get anything for what is left. I need to get close to $50 for me to make my money back. I do have a "weathered" one that I might go for a little less though.

Yep, that is the same one I was talking about in the thread about the Sidkit from the UK that got pulled. I have a feeling they are members here. Actually I am pretty sure they are, and I think I helped them obtain the binding post. It is an accurate one.

I am very curious to what this will sell for. If it doesn't sell for much than this is something that many of the gun makers already knew about, and it may have been well kept secret all this time.

Alright, here is some info to keep you until I am able to let it all loose. The technical term for the "other knob" part is a "binding post". Here is a site that sells repros that are close...

They still have some differences, but are essentially the same thing.

I have found some "found" vintage items that have the more accurate version, but they are parts off of much larger items that are pretty expensive on their own.

Andy

Anyone know if these will fit an Offworld?

How close are these to the original?

Thanks

I have no idea what the size of these are. I never purchased any, because I felt they were way too different based on the photo. Sorry I can't really help you with these.

I have recently found another source for the binding post that is used on the Worldcon blaster.

The EE8 field phone has a terminal block which uses 3 binding posts, one of which is the correct one for the Worldcon.

Here's some info on the EE8: http://www.bunkerofdoom.com/mil/telephone/milphones1.html

This is the terminal block of the EE8:

I was able to find just the terminal block at an online surplus store for $15. I wasn't sure if the post was correct, so I took a chance and it paid off.

Here is a pic of the EE8 binding post next to a Coyle cast knob:

I don't know if these are any easier to find than the TG-5-B, but it is another option.

Yep, I thought I had mentioned it already but may have forgot too Embarassed . The problem I have with the EE8 field phones is that they tend to sell for about $50 each and they are heavy so shipping is expensive, and in the end there is only one correct knob on them. I picked up a few of the blocks myself a little while back and pieced them out to people I that had asked me for posts.

I may have another source that I am hoping to confirm this week. Most of the things I have looked at turned out to be the larger posts. If anybody needs them for their PKDs I have a ton now Very Happy

Good find on the blocks. Can you get anymore at that price?

Sadly, that was the only one they had. They did have a couple of the TG-5-Bs, though.

This is good information, I think I have found a supplier with blocks for $3.50. I will have to let you know when I get them as to the suitability before I let the guy get hammered for his stock.

I think I may have got enough of these for everybody. I just bought a large box of vintage electronic parts and it had over 30 of the smaller binding posts. I also got a bunch of the larger ones too.

I need to go through them to separate them by condition and overall accuracy to make sure every body can get one at a fair price. I also hope to find other parts in the box that might be parts to other props too. It was a huge find.
