The Irish Spinner project is now BACK ON.
After seeing a couple of the new reference images from the new set my friend has decided to carry on with the improvements and subsequent molding.
I've been told they'll be sold as kits.

We're still talking a long wait for these I'm afraid

Wow. This is just JAW-DROPPING spectacular. Well put me down on the list for one! What are the dimensions?

It's three foot long - not really studio scale I suppose.
Works out at fifth scale which is three feet.

Is the model maker of this spinner going to mold it himself or will he need someone to mold and make castings for him? You should post these photos over at the RPF. I know there are people who would love to have a casting of this!

Ian will do the moulds himself.
We posted photos at the RPF a long time ago and like the other Spinner project we got a lot of interest and then nothing.
We got a ton of emails asking if he would do a smaller version bizarrely - the whole point of this being about it's size.
What happened was the other Spinner project started and Ian got kind of pissed off because all the other guys that had expressed interest got on the other project.
Now there's a guy that Ian deals with on a regular basis who's going to buy a finished model, he's paying decent enough money to justify the re-tooling and moulds.
Anyone that wants to buy a kit after this is a bonus.

There's no lists to get on here, when the moulds are done the kits will be available.

Yeah, I remember that thread. I can understand why Ian was upset. Well listen, I definitely want one of Ian's. Because you're right, it's all about the size! This is a magnificent model. So consider me the bonus! I'll PM you and give you my e-mail address. Please update me when you can. Any idea of a time-line for when a kit will be ready to ship?

Thank, Anson.

Here's all the photos I could find.
Since these were taken the boom arms have been removed and made more accurate, the canopy will be also be made professionally on the new version.
There were various issues that will be addressed - does anyone have any unusual reference for the Spinner?
If anyone does I'd appreciate a PM!

The more reference, the better the finished item...

Hey, I'm going through the new Blade Runner DVD box set. I've got the Blu Ray edition. Amazing stuff. There's a documentary called DANGEROUS DAYS. It's divided into chapters. In the chapter called BEYOND THE WINDOW (Visual Effects) there's a great still of a 1/3 scale (I'm guessing) filming miniature of the Spinner. Just its right side in profile. But still, this has GOT to be a great reference for you. Earlier, there's a quick shot of the Spinner blueprints... and sprinkled throughout the documentary shots of the full size Spinner taking off and landing. GET THE NEW DVD with the documentary. Hope this helps!

I remember reading about this on the RPF some time ago. When I saw the picture posted above with the lights on it sent a chill down my spine. Awesome work.

I have some access to Syd Mead, but I don't want to waste his time.

Any thoughts if he could be easily helpful with this project? Knowing him a little, I don't think he would want to spend much time with it, but he may have some advice.

Syd is a really nice guy, But not sure how much he could help. I would talk to Gene Winfield, who also has been known to help fans out, and Bryan at Shapestorm.com.

Any ideas on:

- price?
- completion date?
- weight of model?
- actual dimensions?

Hey there Ron!
Great to hear from you mate!

As we speak the Spinner is in several pieces but is being remastered to be even more accurate.

It is being molded apparently!

Here's my version of the Spinner. It's not totally accurate but it was my first attempt at builiding it. If you want I can put more pictures up with more details.
