This is the Ghost I just finished.

It's a Tomenosuke 2049 kit, but built on a PFC Bulldog. The Bulldog is far higher quality than the Tomenosuke kit version, but adapting it presented some unique problems...
The barrel is machined aluminum by Ted.
The grips are clearcast, slightly smokey grey. The more I looked at the checkering that was originally on them, the more I felt it didn't fit with the more contemporary brushed metal and purple lights. So I sanded the checkering off and polished them up. I really like the smooth curves and flat facets. It gives a real window into what's inside the gripframe.
The sight rod has two frosted 3mm LEDs in place of the usual green ones.
The metalwork was all worked back almost to mirror then finished with abrasive pads to a slightly matte satin.
John Anderson helped me by replacing the original red LEDs in the clip with ultraviolet versions.

A really fun build.

Thanks guys.
I wanted to try a Ghost which wasn't polished to mirror/chrome finish.
I always felt they were too 'blingy' for a credible, working piece.
They looked more like a presentation item.
The finish on this is like brushed stainless steel. Easy to maintian and doesn't show all those pesky fingerprints Smile
I'm thinking this is perhaps a later incarnation than Deckard's.
The grips were an experiment. The smoke colour is very light. I wasn't certain the surface would polish back up after I removed the checkering, but it worked out.
I also flatted and polished the inside faces of the grips so they would be ultra clear. You can see the shapes better in person, as cameras tend to look through transparent or translucent things.

Wow!
I think this might be my favourite iteration yet.
The finish and clear grips really compliment the form and function of this thing. Not as a weapon but a piece of mechanical art.
Well done Karl.

There are some issues building the Tomenosuke kit onto a PFC Bulldog.
The standoffs for mounting the kit parts have to be fabricated, and it's crucial to make sure you plot their position precisely onto the PFC Bulldog, or things won't be in relative position later on.
In this build I used the PFC Bulldog revolver frame, cylinder, etc. But used the Tomenosuke Bulldog grip-frame, as it already had all the outer frame mount points done.
The forward mounting point for the trigger guard was also an issue. I needed to build up the frame on the lower front to make sure there was enough material to screw the front of the trigger guard securely in place. I used a metal filled epoxy plumbing putty to do this.
I had to cut down the PFC Bulldog's hammer spur, and I also needed to notch the back of the receiver cap to allow it to pass underneath cleanly when the action was operated.

Beautiful work as always, mate.
I love the satin finish. A lot more practical than chrome. Smile

Does it still fire PFC caps?

Hello mate,

Thanks for that. Yes, it still fires PFC caps and I have the special brass rounds to do that. It would need a hole drilled through the last bit of the barrel to vent though.
Easy fix if I ever want to fire it.
I never planned to fire it though, I just really like the build quality of the Bulldog. Leaps and bounds better than the Tomenosuke, more solid, the action is really robust. Feels real.

This was a bit of a challenge, but I really like the result. It's what I set out to do.

Great build Karl; love the industrial look that other "Ghosts" didn't have.
You've said it yourself: the super polished ones are surely beautiful but doesn't represent a real used weapon. Cool Cool Cool

Thanks Joberg, I appreciate the appreciation, especially coming from you.

Industrial is exactly what I was after.

I really wanted to get a more 'practical' look to a bare metal blaster.
The mirror polished ones I'd seen before were really great but felt very 'presentation' to me, as if given to a retiring officer.

With the metalwork satin matte, the grips placed on just didn't look right with the checkering. A bit too traditional for the kind of industrial look I was after.

I really had no idea if the resin would polish up again, so it was a gamble.
I think a set of grips like this in deep amber would look great on a standard blaster. Looking into the grip is really interesting and you can see the hammer spring compress and relax when you work the action.

You're right...apart from the finish (which I love) the grips are an interesting idea: making the inner workings of the gun showed that way is an additional industrial look that no one, apart from you mate, had thought of yet.
