Redoing receiver and bolt question

So watching Adam Savage's video where he compares his ultimate build against the real deal, he talks about the stripping away the existing bluing with white vinegar.

Yep, I knew about this process . . . I "think." I believe you drop the parts in white vinegar for an hour and you're good to go.

He says the process left the perfect patina, and I agree.

But . . . does anyone know if he re did bluing, or clear coated, or anything else after? Do you need to do that if you don't want rusting?

I would suggest always keeping all gun metal parts (especially the parts that have been stripped) coated with a thin layer of gun oil, so that they won’t get all rusted up down the road.
