I have read the replica blaster history and timeline post on this forum many times but there's no timeline for the creation of the hero gun so I am attempting to write one on my blog. In case anyone is interested here is a link to the relevant post (part-1 anyway, up to the start of filming in March 1981);

I am starting to write part-2 which will detail the history of the gun after production wrapped, from June 1981 onwards and that will be on the blog too as I write it.
I may also do a part-3 which documents the components used in the hero build as well.
