Buch,

Is the top one from the Phil S. run some time back? I have one of them and it looks like it to me. Just curious.

Cheers!

Ted.

Thanks. I should have looked more closely before posting.

Collect the parts yourself. Most of the cards are on EBay. That badge is. I got the wallet off eBay as well.

That top style one just popped up on ebay today. I was gonna snag it, but I'm already in on a bunch of other purchases, so I figured I'd pass it along.

For the record, no badge was ever seen in the film, but a trifold wallet was. The top set uses a badge that seems to be made mostly in Europe today (UK?), because it is based off of a current LA Police badge which is actually illegal to own in the US. Not sure if the change in the lettering is enough to protect people from being charged or having it seized, and it certainly was never used in the film regardless. Not to mention it is a shirt badge, and not a wallet badge (though some off duty/undercover police will put their shirt badge in a special wallet).

The second design is the one made Spinner44.com which was a copy of the Phil S. wallet style. Phil S. claimed that it was based on the screen made, but unseen prop owned by a collector of film memorabilia. Later info cast doubt on the authenticity of the owner of the prop (and Phil), but has not been proven 100% either way. The badge itself is based off of available blanks made in recent years, and certainly has the look of the film version worn by the police on their uniforms. I have not been able to find current manufacturers for the same blank without a ribbon design included, but I feel they are out there and likely where spinner44.com got his original run, as well as Phil's prototype. Here is an example though of what I usually see out there, and maybe a place a one of a kind custom could be made... https://www.badgeandwallet.com/badges/custom/ovals

The third design is made by Eltee, a retired California police officer and collector of police related film props, as well as a member of this board. It is based on the uniform badges that were originally designed for the film, and therefore in my opinion, more in tune of the film's original design. They are very hard to get though, and not sure if they are still available or not.

I strongly feel that Deckard never had a badge in his wallet, just the ID, but it is possible, and I am still hoping designs and even prototypes for the badge may actually show up some day, so I never went through completing my own wallet set, though I do own pieces to both the Spinner44.com and Phil S. sets including a badge. I also have many different versions of the wallet contents, and even some of my own ID cards.

There is a ton of info on the badges on here, so I hope you can check it all out.

Andy
