Not sure if anyone already picked up on this interesting find regarding the Blade Runner blaster. I am new to the forum so apologies in advance if it has already been covered.
I remember reading the Tom Southwell Q & A thread and how his last comment/ post mentioned he would follow up with Stephen Dane regarding any additional thoughts he recalled on the Deckard Blaster.
I actually didn't realize up until that point that Stephen was the key person involved in the making of the blaster via the gunsmith. So I did a random search about him and came up with this info. Again, sorry if it's been repeated in another thread. Just thought I would share the video interview.
Stephen Dane recounts the dynamic environment behind the making of "Blade Runner," and reflects upon his role as the Assistant Art Director in that creative process in "Moments in Design."

What was really cool was at 1:30 seconds of the video he briefly talks about Leon's gun and how they came about creating it while holding a raw copy of Deckard's Blade Runner Blaster. Wondering if that is a copy of how the blaster would look at that time during pre-production.
Pretty neat. |

That is pure gold!
Too bad he has nothing to say about Deckard's blaster. In fact the way the video is edited it makes it look like Deckard's blaster was REJECTED to be Leon's gun!
Somebody track that guy down and ask him who built the Blaster.
Welcome to the board and thanks so much for posting that!

Thanks Karl. I responded to one of Tom Southwell's comments on his thread. Hopefully he will eventually see it and respond to it. His last post was dated January 2013. Hopefully we will hear from his this year.

That vid was posted on the 2nd of Oct. 2013 by LA2019 ...but no info on the blaster I'm afraid. I know that Tom Southwell took pics of the gun fresh from the gunsmith's oven but that's about it
(I miss Tom and his great discussions/info ) |

While there is an actual sketch of the Syd mead concept blaster, does one exist for the final blaster that came out in the film? |
