Roswell (Japan) announced on their website......
COMING SOON..... that they will be releasing a BIG 1/10 scale "Blade Runner Police Spinner" vehicle with internal and external LED lights.... It is called >>>> "FUTURE POLICE CAR" 1/10 scale FPC44

I am not sure if it is going to be a completed model or a kit at this stage. I hope it is released as a completed model....and that the price will be cool. Roswell (Japan) stuff usually is quite expensive but the quality is very good.

What is the price?

I kind of see that the cop lights on top look a little messy..you would think that such a future car the roof lights would be more like today's low profile light bars.

The current light bars look almost as thin as a roof rack.

And are clean looking.

Funny how they missed that.

Must be early days, as they don't have many spec's on it yet. Not sure if it is a kit or a finished model. No price shown yet.

Not sure about all those roof lights...have to look at the movie vehicle to see if movie accurate. As is typical with the designs in 'Blade Runner'...a bit of post modernism mixed with futuristic and old-style designs with a splash of imperialistic art deco designs.

I can tell by the details that their model is based in the full size spinner. The lights on the roof are perfectly accurate to the real car.

Being a Rosswell model with lights and all I guess it will be a kit with a high price.

I was not saying the model was wrong..only that the originator was a little off having all those clunky lights on top when now a days the cop cars have light bars that look like luggage racks...

Those new lights make is much easier to slip up on you than the old big lights.

Love it...seems accurate to me (including the lights)this is some serious model

Looks very interesting. The lights aren't accurate though, the lights on top are red but should be amber, there`s no white light in the middle of the left hand section, the cake tin like light on the side should be yellow and the two mini teardrop lights at the front of the light bar are new.
My hope would be for a kit as a completed model would run a high price.

Roswell Company wrote me an email today in response to my queries.

They say that they plan to produce the 1/10 scale vehicle as a completed model and also as a Kit version.

Prices for both types of product are not available yet and there is no confirmed release date yet.

Syd Mead designed the middle pillar to take the place of the police lights, but the car builders and model makers changed that for the film so people in 1982 would get the idea that it was a police car, and for the cool lighting effects they were able to do with the miniatures that gave those cars their signature look now. It is a bit anachronistic, but then again so is the whole film. Each of the scale models and full scale cars may have had slight variations in the light set ups too.

Syd was instructed to give the cars more detail, which I think might be against his nature. He added all the wiring on the outside of the cars and you can see the progression in his concept art. This all became part of the "retrofitting" aspect of the film which he was also doing with the street scene concept art. As far as the film goes it works just fine. That is what most people want too, what was seen on screen, but I am sure some people will modify them to their tastes, as they have before. The lights don't have to be put on, as do all the decals as well. They are not molded on top into the roof, or at least I seriously doubt it.

Still a formidable looking model...not too fussed about screen accuracy... will look very impressive at 1/10 scale.
