I just had 26354 engraved on an actual firearm so it better be right! LOL

I think since the only actual evidence is the spoken word in the film, you can hear it as you like. But I go with the most commonly accepted.

Also if I were writing it down as someone said that to me I would write it 26354.

I would expect someone to say... Two six ZERO three fifty four if it were meant 260354.

Not to mention that this patch was made in 1982 (maybe even 1981), by Jeff Walker (the owner of the hero gun before he sold it a few years back), as one of the very few things made contemporaneously with the films release.



These patches were made with the help of the BR art department, as he had with the Alien patches. If anyone knew what it was, he would have had an inside line.

Not to derail, it seems this point is settled.

But, I can make that badge in metal. Been known to make the odd leather item too...

I remember Tom Southwell saying when he was here that he didn't remember a badge for Deckard, and he did design the one for the Street unit police officers, as we know the two part badges with the photo. The one we all know as Deckard's badge as made by Spinner44.com, was a recast/remake off of the Phil S. super secret wallet set, that has been pretty much disproved as a "screen used" piece. It might still have a connection with the film, but even Phil has conceded its lack of 100% authenticity.

This is still one of the big BR mysteries, just like the hero gun before it showed up at Worldcon in 06'. It is possible, and likely by the way Deckard shows his wallet in the film as folded with no badge shown on more than one occasion, that the badge was never made, or used in the film. I do feel however that it was at least thought about as a possible prop, and likely would NOT have looked like a current LAPD badge. Still the idea that early in his carreer as a rookie, the old badge style may have still been in existence.

1. Would the metal badge follow the patch design, or be more 'badge shaped'?
2. Would it be flat, simple curved (slight belly curve), or complex curved (slightly domed)?

BEFORE you make anything in metal you REALLY, really, might want to LISTEN to ALL 5 versions of BLD as twoSIXTY354 sure sounds like what Deckard says as he flashes his wallet.

Oh and fyi NOT trying to cause a fight on this,... I just noticed it as I was doing my annual BLD marathon viewing recently.

Metal is pretty permanent. Which can be a good thing.

I always heard it as 'Deckard...B two sixty three fifty four...' which I took to mean 26354.
It's like the Boeing 747....in the UK it's spoken as seven four seven while Americans say seven forty seven.

This process is expensive and time consuming, so don't worry, I won't even think about starting the project until you guys decide what number is on it.

When there's general accord, and a definitive number is decided upon, that's what we go with.
