Hey Guys,
I've had my resin blaster for quite some time now, even displayed proudly in a beautiful shadow box (as detailed in another thread here somewhere)

But the one issue I've been ignoring for aaaaages is how in the hell do I attach the bottom plate of the ammo clip securely and tidily?

It was originally superglued on with a smidge of blutac for security brrrrr....not a nice method..but the electronics inside have gently, over time, popped it off again and now it's just kinda hanging off as below...

Have any of you guys with the same kit (the aussie resin from evilbay) managed to attach it properly? am I missing something obvious? or should I just man up, shut up and superglue it back on?

Cheers

Respect
P.

Drilling small holes (3), counter-sinking the heads of the screws (very small ones and black of course) so you can still access the electronics.

Depending on the tightness of the wires and electronics inside, maybe 2 earth magnets could also work, but I didn't see how much space you have under the plate to put those magnets in there Confused

Thaks for the tips sir!

There's precious little space in there that's not a wire or an LED Very Happy

Maybe a well placed screw or two could do it yea..but the only real room for that even is perhaps on at the front...

perhaps that and a dab of superglue at the sides would suffice and mean I could get access to the insides if needed to without too much bother...hmmm...

You're welcome. I've seen very fine and long screws (the ones you have to use a very small screw-driver with)...so to access your electronics won't be a prob then.

Yeah, you don't want to use basic wood screws. Find yourself smaller button screws or flat topped socket screws that are not too big. I get mine from Ace hardware. They don't carry them at lowes or home depot.

You shouldn't need super glue.

Counter sink some very small rare earth magnets. Works like a charm. I'll post pics of mine when I get a minute...

You could spot glue it in a couple/four spots with super glue so you could break it free if you need to. Scrape the paint off in a couple of corresponding spots on both parts and glue just enough to hold it together, but leaving the rest unglued and with a spot to get a good blade in there to pry off if needed.

I'm not sure how close this version is to my original PKD II 2018 Model, but if you can find the rare earth magnets small enough, yet strong enough, that would be a good option. If I remember correctly I used hot glue. Once I had the light box correctly wired and tested, I would fill it up with hot glue then quickly press fit it into place until it hardened. It not only held the cover in place, but also insulated the LEDs and resistor. It's a bit overkill by today's standard, though. I'm looking into the rare earth magnet option for the Enforcer's battery cover. If you can go that route, I think it would be a cleaner option. But, for a quick and effective method, the spot gluing that Andy suggests is good too.

I'm redoing the wiring, but you can see where I've put the magnets. The plate sits tight and is easy to remove.

Fixed image link with tags to view the pic. I quite like the idea of the magnets myself.

I have seen them on picture frames at discount stores where they have the super minimal acrylic 2 piece frames that just sandwich the photo between them. The technical term is Rare Earth Magnet. Many larger hobby shops will have them too. Esp ones that do model trains and airplanes.

Your best source for rare earth magnets is Lee Valley Tools. You can get a sampler pack of various sizes for about $10. The little 1/8" guys I've used here are included I believe.
