Hi folks,
just thought i'd share this here. Made a 1/6th scale tile as it appears in Deckard's apartment which measures 6,77cm x 6,77cm. It will be part of my M2019 blaster stand.

Let me know what you guys think Smile Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Made it available on shapeways in case anyone wants it :

Good stuff...and a mirror image of the top tile is also a nice addition.
Don't forget the deep groove on top to make it screen accurate.
Eager to see the result with the gun

Oooops...wrong side. When you look at the tile (same position as in the movie) the small square should be at the bottom left hand side and your deep groove should then be on top of the main ridge.
Now, your tile has the deep groove on the right hand side of your main ridge. Sad I'll post pics later 'cause I'm using a different computer that hasn't my files on it.

Indeed, it is as you say.
There seem to be 2 kind of tiles floating around on the web. One with the groove on the right side and one on the top. I'll look at the film again this evening to make sure which one it is. Very Happy

Since the set designer took molds of the real tiles at Ennis House in L.A. you could just Google that and get the right design Wink

Yup, done, but even then it's tricky to separate real from fake. Nevertheless, my next revision will be the right one

Looking good man. The ones on the Ennis house were made in both orientations, but they only copied one tile from the Ennis house to make Deckard's apartment. They used the one that is a mirror to the one you made here. Check out pics from the movie to see what I mean. Hopefully the program you are using as an easy flip function on it. It should. Only us sticklers notice this stuff though. Wink

Thx, glad you like it and thx for confirming.

I just came back from a tile search downstairs through the final cut of Blade Runner and took some photo's of my TV screen

I'm actually new to 3D drawing and started last weekend with it so i'm learning as i go along. I'm using the free version of google sketchup. Smile

Ok, third revision done. Smile

Updated first post again and made it 1/6th scale while i was at it too taking into account that the original tile measured around 16 inches by 16 inches. Let me know what you guys think

Hehe, thanks Laughing

As for the blaster stand i'm going with some ideas and it's far from finished. But the idea for the wall behind the blaster is this for now :

Imagine some red EL strap behind those letters. The tiles, possibly the whole thing may be printed in sandstone although i'll probably order a test tile first to see what sandstone actually is. Thoughts are still racing through my mind so things may change alot before i have something final

I can imagine alright...you said it's for displaying your gun, sooo I guess those tiles will not be 16''X 16"?

Laughing A 16 x 16 inch printed tile, that would be something. I wouldn't wanna be paying that bill though Wink

Thx, yup, as it turned out with my first 7 x 7 cm tile i was not too far off to go for 1/6th scale anyways (if the originals were 16 x 16 inches). Smile

As for the base, i managed to get some more work done today and i think i'm nearing the end of the whole stand idea. The base will also have a slot to put the ID in i purchased from Synamax. Great work by the way.
http://www.propsummit.com/viewtopic.php?t=3585

Behind it, the gun itself will stand horizontally with a 10mm polycarbonate rod lighted up with a 5mm clear white LED under the base, vertically under the front allen screw. The butt end will sit slightly flush inside the base.

I'll be grouping an order soon and see the mats first hand before i decide to go all out and order the whole base. Keep you posted.

Sounds good...did you ask a local business to do it or is it outside of Belgium?
