If this new camera's 3D function works as well as promised, we might be able to "look around corners" in a photograph, a la the Esper sequence.

Well, it's a first step. But for now you only can zoom and re-focus anywhere in the picture when in "interactive mode". Lytro cameras will be useful for some scenes, no doubt, but for general purposes... well, le't see when finally released...
