I was watching a Blade Runner crew jacket on ebay and asked the seller about it, and it turned out he worked on the film and was selling his own personal jacket. I got talking to him a little about working on the film, and he told me a couple things I am not sure if I can repeat about the producers, and promised to tell me more down the road. I lost out on the auction because I just simply couldn't afford to pay too much, and the auction ended just over my bid. The guy later emailed me and said he had a few other things left over from the movie, and he would just send them to me because he believed in Karma.

About a week later I got a package with a few promotional pinback buttons, and a couple of paper weights from films he worked on. One of the pin back badges was the "I Survived the Blade Runner" pin that was made by some of the same people who did the T-shirt wars shirts...Still, the real amazing piece was another crew jacket he had as well. He told me the other one went to a shop that he knew would just resell it. He wanted to make sure it went to a fan. I am still just blown away by it...

Wow, what an amazing story. Congratulations to you. How refreshing to know there are still people out there who pay it forward.
Enjoy your gift.

Most excellent Andy (I'm a strong believer of paying it forward ) Big thanks to that gentleman and we're, of course, eager to hear his stories about his experience on the set Wink

WOW andy, that's truely incredible !!!

Shocked

(Same as JB, I'd like to hear what he told you...)

Got my crew jacket a couple of years ago on eBay from one of Doug Trumbull's former employees, John Cabo. I was so amazed to be the only bidder, got it at its stating auction price, 150$. He told me his main assignment on the film was to work on the blimp ad screens. We exchanged a few emails, it was great to have an inside point of view on this part of the production process ! (BR was his film debut)

Unfortunately, my hard disk crashed several months later and I lost his email... (and he never resurfaced on eBay) Too bad for me, but I'm still very happy to know who formerly owned this jacket and to also know what he did on the film, it adds an invaluable "sentimental value" to this piece of memorabilia.

Fred

PS : Photos below from Doug Trumbull's AWESOME site !

I got a letter from him with the jacket too, telling me he donated all his paper work to the Hollywood motion picture museum. I am trying to create a list of good questions to ask him, and have a couple that I know won't be too bothersome or fanboyish. He did tell me that "officially" the movie still has not made any money.

More to come...
