Thank you very much fella's. From a forum such as this, its high praise indeed.

Personally I don't believe Deckard is a replicant because that's just too convenient. The moral dilemma around the human and the replicants is far more interesting and it poses so many questions that transcend a simple us vs them story. It also opens up so many future moral questions IMO so no, for me Deckard is human.

I inserted the red eye because Ridley did that in the movie and it created for me a wonderful puzzle regarding his true identity - without stating anything as absolute - and I wanted to do the same...

Thank you again..

MARK

Well said.

Also why on earth would anyone make a replicant hunter that is weaker than his prey? Deckard could not stand toe to toe with any of the replicants he faced in the movie. Makes no sense at all plus it as you said it obliterates the moral dilemma of the story and character.

It would be like making Clarice Starling a serial killer in Silence of the Lambs.

I agree with you Mark; although I like the ambiguity surrounding the issue, I've never really believed Deckard is a replicant himself. I just like the possibility that he is. The red eye effect in your artwork is evocative of this scene:

It's only a brief moment in the film, but I think it's a very important one as it asks the viewer to consider: is Deckard a replicant? And if he is, does it really matter? In every way that matters, the replicants are just as (or possibly more) human than we are.

I mostly enjoyed the trailer and certainly liked the desert and casino scenes. The cityscape looked to me as if it had been shot in downtown Hong Kong which disappointed me immensely. I'm not a great fan of Gosling but I am sure with Denis Villeneuve at the helm I might get to like him in this. I am horrified though at the thought of Jared Leto being cast because I dislike him intensely.

Seeing Harrison with the blaster was a highlight and just as special as seeing him in the Fedora again.

A teaser poster for Blade Runner 2049, I sincerely hope they don't drop the ball with this one...

Gouache paint and Prismacolor pencils on board

That's wonderful Mark, fingers crossed you get a full version commission from Warner Bros, would buy one for sure. Cool

Glad to see everyone has jumped on this. It's driven me back to the forums after some time away...

While I'm not super excited about the casting overall, I've got a lot of hope just from Dennis V. I don't know if you've all seen Sicario and Arrival, but they are two of the most tense, beautifully shot, well scored movies I've ever seen. I absolutely think he's the perfect fit for BR.

Also, of all his movies, similar to Keanu, when he actually fits the parts, vs him having to create a character, I don't hate gosling... I liked drive, just hated him in anything he had to emote in. So, if they make him a fairly dry detective, could make it work. That, or Dennis may finally yank his breakout performance. hahahaha.

Here's hoping for greatness.

I ABSOLUTELY love the crunchup of Vangelis. I also love the visuals that fit the original novel. I do want plenty of dark, acidic scenery though to take me back to that world from 30 years ago.

This is an interesting new piece of information. They have put a mild spoiler warning ahead

Actually, there are two:

Well, ILM did a great job at recreating Mof Tarkin and a younger Princess Leia in RO...so a character I wouldn't mind seeing is Sean Young Wink

And it would work better as to any CGI quirks could be contributed to her being a replicant.

After all those years, Deckard should have tweaked with the Green laser sight and got it working on his blaster. Something slightly new. A green laser dot could have shown up on Gosling when he met Deckard for the first time.

Great work Mark.... You are a master artist.

Well, in his old age, SRS has had a tendency to tease us with a lot Laughing
Prometheus and the mention of Tyrell Corp for example.

I wouldn't be surprised that the Off-World Replicants (Ash was the first) of BR will be meshed together with the Alien franchise Wink

How? Well, that's the $ 25.000 question!

Weelll... They did bang-up job of re-creating Peter Cushing's looks, but not so much of replicating the character that he gave Tarkin. The fellow wearing the digital mask vas a very poor voice match, and utterly unable to emulate Cushing's extremely precise use of English. I found the experience jarring.

I'd hate it if they did something similar to Rachel...

It's true that Cushing was more difficult to copy...I wouldn't see a prob with Sean Young Wink
