I have read the excellent Future Nior book by Sammom and I'd like to know if he will do an update on the title with a chapter or two about the Blaster? Or if there were and info printed about the Blaster it self? Also does anyone know the fate of the World Con Hero ? I didn't get the info on what the prop sold for at auction nor its present location. |

The original version kind of glossed over the blaster, talking briefly about how Ridley saw the steyr in a gun shop and sort of said 'make it something like that'.
Frankly Propsummit has better history on the blaster than any deleted chapter of the book. Don't get me wrong, it was a good read, just lacking in that particular department. _________________

Propsummit rocks in terms of the blaster's history (and pics of the original to boot!) .As for the book, it was a good read... |

In the first edition, didn't Paul Sammons write that the blaster was made from a flare gun?
The hero guns present location is unknown. It sold for something like $270,000. _________________ I don't have enough blasters! |

I don't recall any mention of a flare gun, just that Ridley and a production designer were in a gun store in Hollywierd when he spotted the disassembled steyr.
The book's a great read though. _________________

Paul M. Sammon reported it as a "German Flare gun" in his famous 1982 Cinema Fantastique article. He wanted to correct it for 'Future Noir', but the sections got edited out. Here is a link to the archived edited material that was taken out...

Look at the Terry Rawlings section specifically for the gun info.
The expanded version of 'Future Noir' only seemed to deal with the making of the 'Final Cut'. It was also only sold in the UK from what I can tell.
