Well, saw the discussion on the RPF about the prequel and some of the pix beeing posted have already generated a "heated" debate.
Design of the space suit (too sleek) design of the space-ship (not gritty enough)...
Well, the Nostromo was probably a ex-military vessel/transport now converted to a dirty space barge, tugging a huge platform/raffinery.
I bet you anything that those space suits were better suited to mine ore (a la Outland) than a sophisticated suit for planet exploration that is showned in the prequel.
As for the "beautiful people" portraying the crew...read the above post and you'll see that it jives with the whole concept of space tug |

Thanks Andy for the link !
It looks like the real / first Weylan Yutani wings logo is on the Prometheus spacesuits :
I guess the wings on Noomi Rapace's chest refer to the eagle that eats Prometheus' liver in mythology but also to the starship itself (it's a flying object). The sun could figure the planet it's supposed to land on... but also the Gods that created man, according to what we know of the film right now... and this logo refers to the original Weylan Yutani wings patch as seen on the Nostromo crew !
That's pretty cool news...

Good one Fred! Yes, I'm eager to see that movie for sure. I have the impression that some of the early designs/drawings were revisited and that we'll have to consult our old pics to see that it's going to be the case throughout the new movie (like the patches, the Weyland logo, etc). |

Saw it... It looks awesome !!! (I still don't like some of the designs like the trucks that look really awful, but the overall look is excellent... Some images even remind me of Giger and Cobb's paintings !)

TFS Chronos...yeah, first Weyland Corp, then, later, the fusion between them and Yutani Corp = huge Corp |

You know what concerns me? This is Ridley's movie and he's gone with the WeylanD spelling and not his original Weylan
I'm probably being over sensitive LOL but you know our attention to detail here when it comes to BR and Alien - so I'm a little miffed that he's moving in this direction. Ah well - it does look amazing though!
Things I'm most excited about -
What appears to be a Space Jockey head on an examination table.
The animated chair rising from the floor of the derelict chamber - is the nearby human going to sit in the chair and be 'converted' into our favourite dead alien?
The alien derelict itself! So it appears it gets damaged and falls from the sky, initially landing on its 'back' so the 'U' arms point up in the air! Then at some other point, it falls over due to some cataclysm and ends up in the familiar 'laying down' position...the design does look slightly different to me, the rounded 'V' section at the end of one arm looks a lot squarer in this trailer, but sure enough the 3 airlock openings are clearly visible...maybe this isn't even the same one we saw in Alien, but a different planet all together? The atmosphere does look a lot brighter and sunnier!
Sorry for the stream of consciousness, I'm still trying to process it all |
