Ah yes, Natural City....the DVD is sitting not 3 feet from me as I type this 
I'd call it a ripoff, but the movie's too decent, so it's more of a great homage.
The whole "police officer of the future who falls in love with a humanoid robot who's in it's last moments of life and tries to save it" thing....along with the whole "antagonist robot who's also dying and breaks into a high tech facility to find what it means to be human and extend it's life" ...yeaah.
It really is a re-telling and re-imagining of BR, without having to give any credit. Good movie though.
