Hey guys. I'm thinking of working up the file for Ripley's hearing in Aliens.

On the big screen behind Ripley we see lots of information scrolling up about each crew member together with photos of them.

I'm going to buy the Alien and Aliens novelizations (anyone know if they are available in electronic format anywhere to buy?) and hopefully I can find a lot of info in those. Does anyone know of any other resources for background info on each crew member? DOB, family, education, training, work experience and so on..?

Smile

I know that each and every actors had received from Ridley a personal file with their character's background prior to main photography (to facilitate their job and make it more "real" on screen and during rehearsal)...I don't know what happened to these. Crying or Very sad

Do you think James Cameron just made up all the dosier information on the crew for Ripley's inquest?

Graduating high school in Detroit, Michigan (8/06 - 6/09); GMA personality For example, we see parts of the text about Parker:

"matrix count... unhealthy mixture of...
throughout span of employment, with an... I.Q. count due to oral inception... Dramox-222... Early mechanical... limited education in FTL and sub-FTL...
an increase of Dramox treatment. " etc.

I think these may be appearing on the 'Alien Anthology' BD set.

kurtyboy,

The main information I know of is the stuff on the Alien Legacy DVD's in the hidden extra's bit. However I'm a bit dubious of this as it references things post release, if I recall!

There are a few comments also on the first poster magazine and I always like the pro dreaming profiles at the start of the novelization. I think these could be the basis for a psychiatric evaluation of the characters.

The character files joberg mentions seem to exist if you talk to Harry Dean Stanton and not to exist if you talk to Tom Skerritt. So who do you believe?

The stuff in Aliens I don't know but it looked good. But lets hope they do appear on the Alien Anthology (does that mean I have to buy them all again?).

I had a go at a layout for the info off the legacy DVD's a few years back. Here's a sample of the Kane pages. The info looks a bit thin but you can't go making it up, or can you? I planed on other pages but didn't really have enough info or good pictures.

There are some good head turn around shots on the Quadrilogy DVD but unfortunately Parker and Brett are missing.

Anyway look forward to what you may come up with.

Colin

James Cameron Made up a lot of crap... not only forced dialogue, re-imagination of the ALIEN biology (not to mention short guys in rubber suits) but was so lacking in research of the original film for a sequel, that what was hyped to be "ALIEN-2" that we all waited for and heard rumors about in 1980-81..turned out to be complete shit.

His excuse?

"I did not want to sacrifice the group experience"

Meaning in so many words...he was willing to bastardize the original film to rake in more money...After all, if you remember the early 80's were rife with post Vietnam movies.

..What a way to claim credit where it is not due, and pull in a new audience segment.

My favorite forced line from the script....

"Looks like secreted resin.."

DUH>>

Thanks for that one James... If you had bothered to do your research on the original you would never had included that moronic line...or did ego get in the way of research?

I'll just note that the files use the ALIENS spelling of "Weyland" Yutani, rather than the original ALIEN spelling Weylan-Yutani.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Weyland-Yutani for the prequel movies.

Thanks for all the info. Sorry I never even noticed it until now and for some reason I don't seem to have received email notifications.

Well I'm nearly finished going through the Alien and Aliens stuff on the Bluray set but I don't see the profiles yet...
