Fred is right JT . The big challenge is not the construction, it's convincing the wife to add to the already "big landing gear" Wink ...I'll post pics of the doors (seems that these will be grey-ish, while the gear itself is an off-white colour).

ha ha!!! Tell her you will put a light bulb at the top between the doors, "Yeah dear, It's a lamp"

This is turning out great!

Sure, and I'll be ready to build my dog house (in a BR apt. theme of course )...In terms of segway to that landing gear, I would be inclined to reproduce the "bubble" Ash is using with the landing gear as a background. Of course everything would be in the appropriate scale (don't know wich one yet, but my neurones are working overtime...I'll keep you posted); what I need now is good ref pics of the set they build in Shepperton complete with the bubble.

Use some degree of caution when basing it off the full size set; this was built before the models were created by Martin Bower et al, which is why we found alot of discrepancies between the full size set and the models as noted in the Nostromo discussion thread.

Here you go, Sir !
(Found this one in an early 80s SFX book I intended to throw away this WE... then I found 2 or 3 interesting pics and then kept it after all... damn, I'm not going to find new room on my shelves using this method !)
Shocked
Fred

I think I've found the solution, at least for now : I gave my kids most of the toys that used to sit on my shelves, this way I have more room for the damn books ! (most of them are not sitting on the floor anymore, that's a sign it worked pretty efficiently)

Thanks Fred for the pic...now I can see the exterior of the bubble and some details on the landing gear: especially the numbers on each shocks.

It is looking terrific, and a nice photo too from Fred.
Are you going to do the rotating light in the middle of the hydraulics too??

No rotating light in the middle (I didn't find a small light to fit in that very small space yet). I'm thinking about repainting the landing gear in light grey. Since I've seen additional material (thanks again Fred and Andy) I think that that colour would suit this particular project better. I"m finishing the doors right now and I'll post pix as soon as everything is put together.

jb, if there are any led's or whatnot you need that is a pain to find over there (although you have about as much as we do over here as far as components), let me know I also have a lot of experience with PIC timers, and a simple setup on this latest model of yours would be incredible.....

Excellent paintjob, JB... but don't you think the legs should be darker than that ???

Shocked

Yes, you're probably right Fred, but I didn't want to go too dard and miss the details (then again, I photographed it this aft. with very bright lights) and compared to the pics, it looks darker in real life... Wink
