Decided to take my own advice and put a scoop detail helmet together.
Having nothing but some screen caps to go off, just did some gum shoe work on ebay and after a couple of weeks of searching,
have come up with the parts needed to do the job.
The only helmet i could find that matches the screen used one was a vintage Wilson helmet. Visualy it matches the hero exactly, same stud postions,
raised stripe along the top and it was the only one i found that had the correct faceguard, every other helmet ive seen that comes close,
the two support bars run straight up and down, the Wilson has them at the correct angle.
I thought the visor would be off a vintage motorcycle helmet and from what i can tell, it was off a vintage Bell helmet.
Notice how the original studs on the hero have been drilled out and moved to the end of the visor, the old holes were left unfilled.
Cant seem to find the original chin strap, any help there would be great, have found a cheap replacement that just needs some minor mods to pull it off.
Will post pics when its all done and have some other ideas for Soylent props that will soon be ready as well. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

Looks like you have all the right parts. The helmet badge is interesting, wonder if it is the same as they used in the wallet?Doesn't look like fabric. On second thought I guess it is probably too big for the wallet badge.Great find though! |

Thanks guys,
Only if you can handle sleeping in the bath Neil.
I think the wallet badge and the helmet badge are the same size.
I followed this scene through and you can see a light scouce track right across the helmet and badge and can still be seen across the badge.
If it was made of material, the light would not reflect back. I will go with an adhesive label for that one.
Gunna see the guy who put the street cop patches together this week and hopefully he can do printed material ones. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

The last Soylent Green prop i want to do is the ID wallet. Found a great one that is the correct shape and even has the New York State seal on it.
Hopefully i can remove town name and replace it with New York City Police Department.
Thomas`s work on the ID card is superb but i think it needs a little adjustment to make it spot on. Can somebody take the red seal off the left side of the card, lift the
yellow and black badge a lttle, and place the red seal under it?

Very cool Tim!
Your prop room will be amazing with this, your Mad Max stuff and, of course, your Blade Runner items.

Hopefully steevy, someone will be able to make the minor adjustments to Thomas`s ID and post it in the spirit of Thomas`s effort and make it available to all.
If that doesnt happen, i will have to get one made and would be glad to send you one.
Im going to get the badge made into a sticker for sure and hopefully will be able to organise a printed version, the problem is finding the right fabric,
is it thin vinyl or a chammy type deal, more searching.
Im not offering any for sale but will get a few extra done for the few who have shown interest in the thread, only need to cover shipping.
This might make it easier to modify the original card. This could go under the yellow and black badge and the red seal could just be removed altogether.

Got it all finished and although it was fairly easy to put together, its become my favorite project. Hope you like it.
Made some soylent green to put in a bag but decided to incorporate them into the base, driven more by lack of space than anything.
Found a great accurate id wallet and removed the Larchmont embossing with nail polish remover and very happy with the final result.
Took some reworking to get the layout of the id to my needs.
The finished display.
What i had to work off.
Big thanks to steevy for the inspiration and Thomas for the id groundwork.
Neil, joberg, steevy, Andy and Fred, I will have something special for you soon. Stay tuned.

Very cool project and well executed! I just wanted to also comment on what a great idea the soylent green base idea is.
That's almost as cool as the helmet! |

Tim, you're just killing me !!! YOU NEVER STOP, YOU OLD DEVIL !!!
You'll have to open a SciFi Museum one of these days if you want to keep space in your house...
Well done once again, mate !

Haha....A museum would be great Tim!
Love the helmet stand base. Great idea.
Helmet and badge turned out great as well.
What's the Soylent Green made of Tim? (If you don't mind me asking)
I'm always on the lookout for a prop I can make and would love to try it.
Neil
