I don't know if you've seen this but I found what seems to be a very interesting and informative letter from Philip to the production company thanking them and predicting BR's reception...
Here it is: http://www.philipkdick.com/new_letters-laddcompany.html _________________ I am busy planning things that don't happen, and procrastinating things that I don't want to happen.

Thanks for sharing, Insomniac.
Not seen that before.
Good to know PKD loved the movie as much as we do.

Yep, the famous letter to Jeff Walker, who was also the owner of the hero gun until last year. It was good to know he changed his mind about the Movie before he died. Up until then he thought Hollywood was evil incarnate.

Well, until BR came along and Ridley, as well as the other visualists on the movie, gave the world their slant on P.K.Dick's story |

Jeff Walker mentioned that letter when I spoke to him at the infamous Worldcon 2006. He said he would have brought it (and other items too), but he claimed to not have known if people were still interested in Blade Runner! |

That was maybe a polite way to say "just don"t ask / forget it"...

Well, it was a relatively dead year for anything BR in the news...at least until his gun showed up. Of course the following year he hosted the SD Comicon Final Cut conference, and is interviewed on the DVD set himself. So he at least knew around that time that BR would become hot again. I wouldn't be surprised if he planned on selling his gun at that point and was trying to generate publicity for it at Worldcon. If so it worked.
