I know this isn't strictly prop-related but I was wondering if anybody knows who was responsible for creating the various sound effects in BR?

The films credits and IMDB give a whole list of editors, mixers etcetera but who actually conceived the drone of the Spinner and the bleeps of the ESPER?

(I haven't read Future Noir or The Inside Story for some time so apologies if I've missed something there)

I always thought it was Terry Rawlings. I know he had a team working with him too, but not sure of the names without watching the credits. you might want to check out the Blade Runner Soundtrack group on yahoo groups.

Most of the sound effects in film are created by the foley artists, they are the people responsible for re-creating all the background noises and effects in films on the soundtrack recording eg doors opening closing , people walking, gun shots , electonic beeps etc etc look for those in the credits

Foley artists do the standard normal everyday sounds, but the sound designers do the specialty sounds like Spinner noises (i.e. Ben Burtt for Star Wars and Wall-E), and other atmospheric sounds. I think that is what he was asking about.

Yeah, I'm interested in who was the 'Ben Burtt' amongst the BR sound people. Will maybe fire off a couple of emails.

You might try having a look in the credits for Alien, a lot of the same sound FX in Alien showed up in BR.
