Karl,

Thank you so much for sharing. It most likely was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you. And thanks again that it wasn't the same for us with your photos.

A question - did the parts traditionally thought to be plastic (the cylinder covers, the magazine, and the magazine holder) appear to really be plastic? I don't know if you noticed any clues from chipped areas while you handled the piece. I was intrigued the first time that I saw the static right-hand cylinder cover to notice the cut-out for the bolt lever. Not on any of the prior interpretations, that I am aware of. I agree with some of the thoughts on the unusual adjustment screw - it doesn't seem to show the same degree of weathering as the other steel parts, but that could be due to the lack of protective bluing on the Bulldog and Steyr parts. The steel does look grey with corrosion marks, but no obvious bluing - is that consistant with your in-person observations. Old steel aquires a greyish tone. Sorry to go over points that are in the RPF marathon thread again, but "I got's to ask...."

Karl,

Thank you again for being so generous and sharing this dreamlike pics with us. I have been researching this gun for 7 years nmore or less and have spent some hundreds on pics, and then you came with the definitive document just for free!

Plus as Karl said before, there are many many more pics (more than double on the gun itself) on this than on the original page yu posted, so thanks again for sharing that extra.

Karl I owe you one BIG time.

The plastic parts indeed looked plastic. I am no expert when it comes to IDing steel tho.

But the imprssion I got of the buttplate at least was that it seemed exactly like the stainless steel spoons that I have at the house.

David,

The cilinder cover are not considered to be plastic, but mental. If yoyu carefully examine the photos, particuraly the ones of the right side, you may notice some chipped paint and metal showing trough. The only plastic parts are the ammo clip and case (black nylon, to be more precise).

Best,
Sergio

Sorry I should have said that the magazine cover looked like plastic, I never thought that the cylinder cover was plastic.

Bryan: Ugly? Crying or Very sad

Anyway, no I had no idea going to Worldcon that I'd be seeing the BR blaster. In fact I knew that Greg Jein was going to have his Star Trek props there, and I was psyched to be seeing those (and ogled them all week in fact). But I actually walked PAST the Blade Runner display for three DAYS, thinking "nice replica but it CAN'T be the real one..." Shocked

Karl, must have been an awesome surprise then! As well, I can imagine any of us walking past and thinking it was just another replica. I know you dont want to mention anything about the owner, but how was he about taking it out of the case and handling it?

I apologize for the boring questions, but I am trying to live this experience through you

The owner seemed like a really nice guy, I spoke with both him and his wife. He claimed to not know people were "still interested" in Blade Runner, or else he "had a bunch more stuff" he could have brought. Shocked

The aviator pins, I have no idea. They could have been used in ALIEN or in Blade Runner I guess.

I think it's cool that he was also behind the Thinking Cap Co. I love my Alien art portfolio with the Ron Cobb autographed print....
