Here is a first prototype for a 5 1/2" Nostromo kit. I acquired these molds from a guy that had the molds from the refinery model. Here you can see one I hastily did to take a pic (still need to glue on antennas and small engines). The kit has a plastic base with details added to allow it to look like an egg chamber or also looks nice with the nostromo landed on it. The kit includes little landing gear and a half-dozen very detailed alien eggs.. I will get this up in the correct forum here and have it priced less than 25 bones...

I love it, You just turned a garage kit into a collectable (hopefully not a bad word).

Not a bad word at all. Sometimes a garage kit is the only way one can find a model kit

Well I finally got close to getting done on one of the small kits, here is a pic with the little antennas added. I may do a couple more small things and then set it on the shelf... the first 3 kits go out tomorrow morning!

Thanks JT !

BTW, the more I look at it, the more I think it really looks like the tiny model that was attached to the refinery model... (Photo from Phil Rae's collection)

Shocked

That is actually an amazing picture Fred, and great detail.

I did a very rushed job on mine, in about 2 days, and just washed the surface with rubbing alcohol mixed with a bit of india ink to bring out the detail. I have sold close to 20 of these small Nostromos through Ebay and just on the internet, and the thing that amazes me, is that the vast majority..I would say 80% are going to Northern England, Ireland, and Scotland.

For me this is quite an interesting phenomenon, and just very cool. This movie I guess does belong to the U.K. It has almost exclusive U.K. hardware, props, parts, technicians, production, and designers.

I would love to see what some of these guys can do with the smaller version of the model as far as really putting effort into it..more than I did. I hope to get some pics of one here. Actually the molds I bought are from the British F/X kit from long ago..

Here is a sneak preview of a Diorama I am making for Bassnoir...
I am detailing this small size Nostromo to the max I just have a few flaps to do, some antennas, landing gear and it is ready to paint.

The whole thing will consist of the Space Jockey Derelict sitting in a volcanic ridge with the Nostromo sitting a bit away in on a planetoid base... can you say "..walking distance.."?

edit: I am going out and buy a better camera tomorrow A.M.
this is a horrible pic.
