TFS Fred; really great pics with all the stuff built at once : the corridor and the elevator platform (so they can shoot the landing struts with the search party)) and Ash bubble (so they keep the same set and the same struts) love it Cool

Fabulous ! I feel so happy thinking that Alien has still some making of secrets...Thank you for that Fred. For information, Jon Sorensen shares many other photos on a new website

Yes and no.....we found a similar photo earlier on in the thread and knew the set had been built that way. However, the set was built before the models were completed, and the two didn't really match. The blister and airlock 'block' was built on one of the models originally but it was discovered it was accidently built over where the landing leg goes, so it was removed. One can see it on image 68 on Jon Sorensons Recollection of Alien site.

In the end I went with the model version, as it made more sense to the overall look of the Nostromo, works better with the interior set, and we don't really see much of where the three crew get back onto the ship from Ash's point of view anyway for it to be really noticeable.

I agree with what you say Graham, it's just that this photo is so clear that it would have made things easier at the time we were trying to figure out how it was done...

...the only kind of cgi touch I would accept in alien. I think that some shots of the smoke exhaust during the Nostromo landing and taking are too much revealing the model effect. Thank you for sharing this take FenGiddel86.

TFS that landing segment with us FenGidlle86. Great for the smoke coming out of the engine, but I find the landing a little fast for that beast Confused Struts and landing gear would be toast at that speed!

Greetings friends of the Nostromo! from FenGiddel 86

I've started a Nostromo blog at Wordpress and because you were so active in the Nostrtomo blueprinting and deck plans boards on Propsummit, I wanted to invite you to follow the blog...and also to invite you to provide content as a Contributor.

Nothing high stress or deadline driven, but another perspective on the ship would be very helpful and give depth to the project.

Here is the link:
http://thenostromofiles.wordpress.com

I have mostly placeholders on the blog site now, but plan to flesh it out much as I did with the old site.

I'll exercise editorial rights, but doubt there'll be much problem on that end, what with the critical thinking and creative minds on this thread.

Here's the URL. Take a peek and let me know if you want to follow/contribute. You can follow on your own, but if you wish to contribute, let me know.

The work done here, is quite frankly, very valuable and should be preserved and catalogued so it is not lost. I volunteer to do that, "with a little help from my friends" as the Beatles so aptly put it. I mean, look at what our work together resulted in: Inspiring SpaceJockey to create the masterful Nostromo blueprints that made it into a mass-produced publication that is valued for their inclusion alone.

Cheers!

P.S. Before I realized the number of people who contributed to this thread, I was sending the invitations one-by-one. Whew! This is faster. You can respond to the PM to let me know if you want to be a Contributor.

Greetings Alien's fans,

I started some weeks ago the project to modeled the entire Notromo deck with the purpose to export it in a realtime vidogame engine like UDK. I found it will be cool to walk around the bridge to have the actor point of view. While doing some research I found this website and I'd like to thank you for the huge ressources I found out here. So I'd like to share with you my work in progress. i'm still in the modelisation process. Next step lowpoly modeling, UV and highpoly baking textures (for those who know the technical parts). I temporaly use the Starrigger chair (thk so much for your stuff) but I'll redo it for textures and optimization purpose. Hope you'll like it. (As you can see, I've to do a maximum of re-use of asset in order to optimize the realtime step)

Very cool SoyuuZ! Now I really want someone to do this for some locations from BR, like the elusive Deckard's apartment.
