|
|
I picked up a set of 3 of these shot glasses http://propsummit.com/upload/127/chromedecanter001.jpg off eBay (2 green and 1 blue), solely for the blue one. To my great disappointment upon opening the package they were shipped in, I found that the blue one had been shattered.
Can anyone recommend a way I might be able to carefully remove the blue ring from my broken glass, and a green ring from an intact glass and swap them out?
Any ideas are greatly appreciated. |

Those coloured rings can be easely slipped from the glasses (not glued I believe). The plastic is soft enough (at least on my glasses) to change them around. Good luck. |

Mine are on there good. They've gotta be glued and are certainly rigid, which sounds different than yours, but thanks for the advice nonetheless.
So what dissolves glue that's held for fifty years but not the plastic it's gluing? |

If you get someone to hold the glass, while you gently tap the ring down
with a suitable "cold punch", it should come off. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

And the word here is "Gently"...
Frankly I'm surprised they don't pop right off as mine were more than willing to do.
We're talking aged acrylic here...a little bit of alcohol should do the trick. |

Just wanted to thank you guys again for the advice. In the end I have to give a great big thanks to Toothtech for helping me out with this and in doing so sparing me my 2 green ringed glasses as well. Thanks again Toothtech!
I ultimately removed the blue ring from the shattered glass by carefully prying and pealing the glass chunks away from the ring if anyone was curious. |

Good stuff Hasenbrau. You know, accidents are good, in a sense, 'cause now we have your experience dealing with a broken shot glass and slipping the plastic part without breaking it |
