				|
 |
				| Hi all! I'm very happy to be posting some pics of the new trenchcoat I received yesterday. It was made by Propsummit's own Rachael, and I have to say that it's absolutely everything I was anticipating and more!
She did a simply tremendous job on this coat. She's obviously very talented at what she does and I can't thank her enough for getting this done for me. This has always been one of sci-fi's iconic wardrobe pieces for me, and I still can't get over the fact that it's in my home! Many thanks, Megan!
I'll post some pics to "show off" my new threads.
First, a full length view. Megan described the fabric as an un-oiled oilcloth, and it feels both soft and rugged. The color IMO is just phenomenal. When I first talked to Once-Bitten and Rachael about getting a coat made, they sent me a swatch of a different fabric they had been looking at. After I had received the swatch, they sent me pics in email of this newer fabric they had found. I'm glad they let me know, and that it was decided to use this oilcloth. It has a very subtle color shift depending on the lighting.
These pics were taken out on my balcony (with a tripod and timer since my wife, the "good photographer" is out of town) in slightly overcast natural light.

Here is the upper section of the coat, showing some of the detail that went into the collar and chest pockets.
All the pockets on the coat are fully functional, including one pocket inside the left breast. You can also see that the coat is fully lined with a nice satiny fabric. (Sorry, I'm not a "fabric guy" so I don't know a lot of names for things.
  )

And of course, here's that famous collar. This is one of the coolest key features of the trenchcoat, and something that I feel Abbyshot never got quite right with theirs.
 Megan's work is just superb!

Here's a view of the sleeve with one of the lower pockets. The "wraparounds" are very well made, with double piping on the ends of the sleeves. (I think Paul mentioned this was a detail discovered after viewing the new hi-def Ultimate DVD release.)

Here's an overall shot of the back of the coat. No skimping on any details here! The belt, belt loops, and flap on the upper back display the same professional quality as the rest of the piece.

 Another slightly closer shot.

And of course what fun would owning this coat be if I weren't going to wear it? Pay no attention to my goofy expressions.

 So that's it!
A beautiful, extraordinarily well-crafted trenchcoat. I'm sure I'll get years of enjoyment out of it.

 Eric

				| Pretty incredible! As someone who can't sew to save his life, I'm beyond impressed by the quality and level of detail in the coat. I can't even begin to fathom how something like this could be made by a human being... | |

				| Thank you very much for the review!
I should be emerging from my rabbit hole soon; almost done with my relocating.

While I have been hesitant to jump in to this, considering the level of interest I will soon be posting a link to a site to be put on a waiting list. Because each garment is made by hand (and I need to keep my day job) there will be a 4-6 week lead to start. More soon.

 And remember, Rachael isn't human...

				| A work of art.
I've dabbled in costume making myself, and know how hard it is to realise a new design. Replicating an existing one is so much more complicated. Let me add to the chorus: well done!

You know, if I could just get the darn thing to quit screaming, it would be perfect.

				| Well, once again I have to echo the sentiments here. It looks great, Eric. Congratulations! I think I'm next in line to get a coat --I might take some shots myself and contribute to the thread. Great work, rachael!

				| Rachael you aren't human...you are a freaking GODDESS. It seems like every time you do the trench you make it better and better.
We're not worthy! We're not worthy!

I just had to chime in here as it was myself who noticed the difference between AbbeyShot's Collar as apposed to the real deal...Abbeyshot's Collar is top-stiching on flat un-filled material which is corner cutting on their part and gives the collar NO shape.
Megan on the other hand uses over 100 individually stitched pieces of cording in every collar. This gives it that characteristic shape and flare and tends to scream from a distance,
  QUALITY CRAFTSMANSHIP .
No slam on Abbeyshot intended here, again, it's the difference between assembly line making a coat OR making each trench ONE at a time with attention to the detail that makes the BR Trench what it is...ICONIC.

   GAWD I LOVE THIS COLLAR!!!

Collar looks great up or down and stays where you put it!
