Hey everybody, just found this place through the RPF; looks like a great forum.
I'm wondering if anyone has info on Deckard's shoes...I seem to remember them being some sort of leather(?) sneaker. |

What specific information on the shoes are you looking for? I might have it somewhere on my hard drive if I know what you are looking for.
Hope you come around more often Nick, Welcome.

I just got a pair of "Deckard" shoes from ebay!
I had been searching everywhere for the Officials in my size, but could never find a pair. So I bid on a pair of the Stan Smiths.
They're almost identical. The Officials are shinier, but these will polish up nicely I think. _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing. . . |

You lucky dog! Great find.
By the way...sorry we aren't able to get the Trench to you before your event...there should be a little surprise in one of the pockets for you when you do recieve it which I hope will make up a little bit. |

Once I get the shoes, I'll put some pics up.
I read somewhere (maybe even here. . . can't remember ) that the plain flat black laces were replaced with round brown laces.
Anyone know if that's correct?
No problem about the coat! I'm sure I'll be in a happy fog when I get it. And. . . a surprise you say?? I like surprises. _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing. . . |

These shoes really ARE hard to find, I've been searching ebay ever since I started this thread; and the only proper pairs on ebay are far too small for my bulbous feet.
I feel the pangs of compromise... |

I hear ya! The largest pair of 'Officials' I've seen for sale anywhere have been a U.S. 8 1/2.
I mean, maybe if I chopped off my toes I could squeeze into an 8 1/2, but then I know a few days afterward I would find some costume I wanted to do that required toes! _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing. . . |

These shoes were made for walkin'. . .
Got my Stan Smiths yesterday. Nice looking sneakers! (Does anyone say 'sneakers' anymore?? Or am I just an old fogey? )
I did an extensive modification, which consisted of replacing the black laces with some round brown laces.
These laces are a little short. The stock laces are 54", and my replacements are only 36". . . but I got 'em for free at Dillards! Thanks, Dillards shoe department guy!
I'll go out later and get some the correct length.
From the reference I saw over on Bladezone, the main difference between these Stan Smiths and the screen-used Officials is the type of material they're made from. The Officials have a shinier finish, but I can always just use a shine sponge on these.
Now my feet are properly attired for chasing down rogue Replicants! _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing. . . |

Hi again,
Last weekend I found some gray tweedish looking pants. They're a little darker (I think) than the ones seen in the film, and a little "smoother" as far as the texture goes, but they do have a tweed sort of texture.
I decided to try them out with my "Deckard" shoes to see how they look together.
In the publicity shot in the "Deckard's many pants" thread, they seem to have some extra length around the ankles, and I think these look good length-wise. In the second shot I had my hands in my pockets so I think thats's why they look a little shorter. _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing. . . |

Just receive my pair of Adidas Official today.
Unfortunately, I think what I got is either a later incarnation, or a fake. I'm not sure if its made of leather or not, as its not shiny like in the pics normally seem of this particular show, and the material has a very fine 'snake scale' texture on it.
The front portion seem to be rubber, with a rough-ish texture. The sole is rubber, with specks of white embedded in the materioal. And there's no 'Adidas' work molded onto the side of the sole, or the words 'Adidas Official' printed on the side of the shoe. The pattern on the bottom of the sole is different too.
Anyone have any idea what I bought? Is it a variant or is it a worthless fake? |
