|
|
I made this storage box for a client's Tomenusoke 2049.
He liked it a lot.
http://www.karlderrick.com/hostedbox/index.html
I was going for a 20's/30's Noir feel.
It has a 47mm diameter Steyr car badge on the lid, inset into the leather. I stamped the serial number into the leather strap.
Unfortunately, I can't get more than a couple more of the badges, but will instead get a flat version of the domed badge laser etched into metallic discs, probably a 'brushed aluminium' look.
I would also die-cut the blaster shape out of the foam interior. I actually prefer flat foam to the acoustic eggbox stuff, looks tidier.
Perhaps with a 'property tag on one face outside.
I was thinking about a run of leather clad display cases if there's interest. They would be sized for the Tomenosuke/Coyle.
If they're not too complex, I would hope tobe able to get them in for around USD$250 a piece.
Is anyone interested? |

Whoa! <3 That is stunning. I would be into one of these for my shooter (w/ my own Steyr's serial number ). Would it be possible to put a combination lock on one? Bonus question: Are you still making holsters? |

Yes, in theory. At least a hasp and staple for a padlock type combi lock.
And, yes still making holsters. |

Silverside,
I know Robert, it was he who told me he hasn't got more than a few and likely won't be getting more soon. Spoke to him this morning before posting the pics of the box.
I'm thinking about using a graphic I have of the logo and laser etching flat ones. At least we'd have a size choice
So, what I'm thinking is:
1. Wooden box, not too heavy.
2. Dark stain/paint on exposed wood.
3. Leather dressing panel on lid, incorporating a Steyr logo cutout.
4. Metal corner protectors
5. Possible leather side panels and trim, if not too expensive.
6. Steyr logo to be laser etched in 'brushed aluminium/black'
7. Die cut foam block inside to hold Tomenusoke size blaster. |

OK, we need a minimum of ten to get the project to critical mass.
No one will be asked, at any point, to pay anything up front. I don't take deposits on my work.
There is a substantial investment here for me in tooling to die cut the foam interior, artwork and setup charges for the laser cutting, purchase of the rather expensive leather, hardware, boxes, etc. And, the laser cut and etched badge and possibly ident/storage tag.
If we get to ten, I'll commit to making a fully finished prototype, and we can make tweaks then, if we feel the need.
The list so far:
1. Veektohr
2. Nexus7
3. DVDConnoisseur
4. Silverside
5. Jedisushi
Let me knwo if I have this right? |

I am interested - but would like to see how the Metal Steyr looks like when complete. If you can get more of the domed authentic ones I am definitely in. |

Well I just bought the rest of Robert's stock so I now have TEN authentic 47mm domed Steyr badges. Since you're in the UK too you can have them at cost for a run of ten or you can have them and take the value off a box you make for me...
That would put Hirohawa on the list. |

Hi Silverside,
I just PM'd you.
Thanks very much for your offer, I think I'll take you up on it.
So folks, because we now have a finite number (10) of the domed badges, which Silverside has nabbed, the run for the box with the domed badge is now set at ten units, that's it.
I may do a further run of the flat laser etched badges, but that will be it for the domed ones.
Jump in. |

I'm going to start new thread, with just the interested parties list.
easier to update and maintain.
Please continue to discuss the topic here, not there. The other thread is just a list.

So, to throw things into the ring for discussion....
Perhaps a slightly smaller box if I a can source one. The one in the pics is 13" x 10" x 4.5"
The sides to be stained dark wood.
The entire lid area to be a single piece of 29mm thick oak tanned full grain leather, with the hand stitched detail framing the inset Steyr badge, as on the case in the pics.
Silver plated brass corners, similar in style to the 'Deco' ones on the first box.
The domed original Steyr badges we discussed.
Interior foam liner block (plain) to be die-cut for the blaster's shape. Based on the Tomenosuke/Coyle profile.
A business card sized, laser etched, 'brushed aluminium' storage tag on the side detailing the serial number, owner, issue info, etc.
Thoughts? |

Sounds very attractive to me. Do you want to consider cut outs for other items? Ammo, holster, unicorn/horse, etc.? |
