Hi all,
I've been a long time lurker, and finally singed up here. I'm a huge ALIEN / Blade Runner fan. This forum has always been a source of great info and inspiration. I wanted to share a simple prop replica I worked up last week. Hopefully someone finds the info useful!
I love obscure props, and I've always wanted one of the white emergency hatchet's from the Narcissus locker. So, I did some digging and tracked down the right one. It turned out to be an Estwing #2 with a leather grip. I sourced a vintage one to keep costs down, but Estwing actually still makes a similar model today. I did the polished part of the blade with chrome paint, though I'm sure someone with better metal working skills could polish the axe to a similar finish. I sanded a few rusty spots off the axe, sealed the leather grip with PVA glue, then primed, fine sanded, and painted it up.
And my finished replica:

Thanks Fred.
Your posts have always been a source of good info. I'll have to post shots of my whole collection soon. Do we have a "collection showoff" type of thread around here? _________________ KEVDEO's SCI-FI Collection + Custom Props

Great prop Kev, and thank you for the informations about it. I love to know how props are made from . BTW any informations about your helmets...I would love to get one of these.
Joberg I didn't know (or forgot) about these props. Absolultely brilliant.
Once again I dream at the day where we all can meet with our props on a Nostromo bridge |
