Thanks! This is more like it for me. No need to equip a whole crew, after all...
Another article I came across today is this one, about Dave Bowman's newspad that is seen briefly during the opening scene aboard Discovery 1:

Again, some rare photos.
Cheers! |

Well, not Kubrick himself but teams of various scientists, engineers and futurists working to make this film the most advanced of his time |

Brilliant. thanks for sharing Jens.
Would love to see the replica of this made, it should have been done by now.
I would also love to have this exact display in the collection. Nice work on the flat ware Bwood. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

Like a frame for a touchpad, you mean? The row of buttons would be non-functional, then, or would there be a way to actually connect those to the computer proper?
Come to think of it, the buttons could be crafted in such a way that they actually touch the pad. What would then be needed is some sort of app that has an according set of responding areas. |

Even just a static replica with an image from the film or custom picture would be very cool. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

This is only a bit connected to this thread, but it didn't seem worthy of starting a new thread, so here goes.
I stumbled upon this short film about the making of 2001. It's a pretty bad film, to be sure. Lots of dumb stuff. But fast forward your way to the guy who designed the space suit helmet, the art director and illustrator, and especially to the shots of the giant rotating centrifuge set. I've seen behind the scene stills of that set, but I don't think I've ever seen behind the scenes films of it in motion. Very impressive!

Enjoy!

Kinda wordy, but nevertheless TFS. As time goes by information like this, trivial or otherwise, keeps slipping further and further away. Kind of sad, IMO.. |
