Those corridors are looking very good! What kind of lighting you're going to set up in those?

Many Thanks Joberg, If i do install any lighting i'll try and go for LED natural lighting, ideally i would like to have minature Flourescent lighting but i don't think thats available yet!! Once my Nostromo Interiors Project is completed i will do many experimental shots concerning lighting, and smoke.
for "Winking" light panels etc i think that's a matter for my dremel tool and drilling A LOT of holes!! as most of photography is stills i guess winking flashing lights isn't going to be an issue, sometimes i think too much lighting can spoil a good diorama and the "Modelly" aspect is too clear, i much prefer "Cathedralesque" lighting and lots of shadow--the same as 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner' revels in!!

Well, small fluo tubes are already on the market (pricy mind you).
For my corridor, I used white straws that I backed lit...it did the trick Wink
and with keeping with the "ambiance" of Alien/BR.

Good luck and keep up the good work!

Well worth noting Joberg, I have built my corridor and room sets with the capacity at a later date to build in some miniature lighting--The Mini-Flourescence lighting would be a definate option as i want some of the lighting to "Flicker" to add scale to the sets. i will draw the line at Mini-Micro Solid-State computer monitors with teeny-weeny graphics--though i would love to see something like that so much!!
I have added a Photo of the (Very Nearly Completed) Section outside the Infirmary Observation window which besides adding a roof panel pretty much wraps up the A' Level Corridor set for me. i can go back and concentrate on the Garage Bay project--I will start with the floor decking, and a short stretch of C' Level Corridor outside the Garage Bay. Obviously before all that fun i will work on and finish off doing the vehicles within which should keep me busy over the Holidays!!

Many thanks Joberg-I have added a few final shots of my now completed A' Level Corridor with Ridley Scott Style lighting. I am having a few days Rest & Recreation before moving onto the Nostromo Garage Bay Diorama set.
I would like to wish you and everyone here a Happy Christmas and Peaceful Prosperous New Year along with many thanks for all your support and encouragement on my project--as said here are my final A' Level Corridor shots:

Many Thanks Guys, Will post up some photos by week's end, i am starting on the Articulated Vehicle which is barely seen in the final movie, it can be glimpsed sitting alongside the Survey Buggy. It's quite a strange vehicle with so much detail thrown into it only to be virtually ignored and hardly seen, I have some pictures in my archives of the Tracked Vehicle but its a matter of "Knitting" those images together, Its a Twin-Tracked Articulated Vehicle, its function is unknown but i would simply just say its "back ground Dressing" for the Garage Bay to make it look really busy and full up in the half-lit darkness!! I'll start on the Garage Bay decking too, to give my Vehicles a nice place to park up.

Well, as promised i have added a couple shots of the "Articulated Tracked Vehicle", as you can see i have started the basic shape as well as finishing off the Caterpillar Tracks which were a royal pain in the ass!! But i started with them 1st to get them out of the way. The detailing, prime, painting and weathering will follow which i reckon i should go back to finishing off the Tractor Unit and then start on the VTOL Craft for the finishing off of "Phase 1" of the Garage bay project,

A side shot of the vehicles layed out as they would in the Garage Bay looking toward the VTOL Craft:

A top down view of the vehicles, the Articulated Tracked Unit is bottom right:

Well Folks, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy, Peaceful, Prosperous and Creative New Year 2015!!!

At last i have commenced work on the VTOL craft and supply you with 3 snap shots, it's not as difficult as i thought to construct, though the "R2-D2" wheel pods were a royal pain in the ass, i decided to get the fiddly stuff out of the way. I have paused for today and you see the result of 3 hours straight work. the rest of the build i don't think will be as quick but at least i have the basic frame constructed.

A overall view of the Garage Bay Layout with all vehicles present and correct.

A Three-Quarter View of the VTOL Craft, you can note the initial layout of seat and console, along with the section just behind where Lambert digs out some Oxygen Bottles:

A front-on view of the VTOL Craft. it's quite a narrow vehicle and smaller than i realised, the upper works bulge slightly outward along with the bizarre plates on the rotor mechanisim make it look bigger than it really is:

Enjoy the Photos, and a great start to 2015 i think!!

Here's my latest efforts, I have started work on the VTOL, finishing off the Tractor Unit (the "Hydrant" couplings, a few wire and pipework detailing and final weathering) and i have started on the Garage Bay decking ( all photos below...) which without the wall panelling looks quite like a Ludo Board!! I am going to approach this on a many-fronted aspect, do a bit on the VTOL, finish off the floor decking and start on the minor elements of the Garage Bay like the Suit Locker next to the Tractor Unit, quite a few Storage containers and Lamberts Trolley--just to fill out the set really, and start on the wall panels, the sliding door panels have painted detailing and were canvas based--the ones parallel with the Tractor Unit and Articulated Tracked Unit, the partially opened door panels into the Claw Room obviously had more detailing layered onto it so i'll follow that principle.
Here are the latest shots taken:
A nice side shot of the Tractor Unit,

Constructing the Floor Decking supports,

A view of the Tractor Unit and Articulated Tracked Unit in situ on the Garage Bay Floor decking,

A view alongside the VTOL craft, looking toward the Tractor Unit, note the bevelled floor joints, originally "Turntables" were to be fitted for each vehicle area but time and budgetry constraints veto'ed that plan,

An overhead view of the parked vehicles on the partially completed floor decking,

More to come as i go along!

Many Thanks Joberg!!
I have added so more shots of the VTOL Craft under construction, the Cockpit section is pretty much finished, just the remaining framework and plating to do, then i can move onto the next section. It's been a little tricky but with my Photo collection and drawn plans i like to think i pretty much have this vehicle sewn-up. The Garage Bay albeit being cavernous didn't really have much stuff in there, The Tractor Unit, The Articulated Tracked Unit, The Survey Buggy and the VTOL Craft--this becomes obvious when i place them on the Garage Bay floor decking i built. the Survey Buggy seemed to migrate alot around the set!! the other bits and pieces are a Suit Locker, and lots of "Shark" tool cases and boxes to "bulk out" the set.
The only slight mystery about the VTOL Craft is why on earth Lambert and Parker would haul the trolley from the C' Level Corridor to the Craft and Lambert rummaging about digging out a few Oxygen Bottles where if they stayed in the Nearby Equipment Room, surely if Oxygen Bottles were kept in the alcove behind the pilots jump-seat and the VTOL started up, the bottles and stacked boxes would crash about and hit the pilot's head--knocking him senseless!! Just a lazy thought really

Right, here are the pictures of my latest progress:

A Three-Quarter view of the VTOL Craft..

A rear view of the VTOL Craft...

Enjoy and will keep everyone posted on progress!!

Many Thanks Joberg, much appreciated. I enclose a photo of the latest progress on the VTOL Craft ( see below ) It's taking an age to finish this vehicle, but i want to try and get the detailing as best as i can--even if it will end up being partially obscured in the darkness of the Garage Bay Set--it's the bits you don't see i think matters!
Working with a pre-production schematic of the Garage Bay i am drawing up the final detailing of the wall and ceiling panelling, a lot of gold paint will be expended besides weathering, The whole set will be collapsible as it's quite big and like the Nostromo Shepperton sets they will be modular and i can ultimately move them about and take i hope some really atmospheric shots with appropriate lighting!!

Back again, with some updates on the Garage Bay vehicle Project. I have enclosed some photo-links (below) of the VTOL Craft, pretty much all the vehicles are complete now--there is only so much detail you can throw at them before it gets silly and my vision for the Garage Bay is the same as Ridley Scott's, half-lit Cathedral Like rays of light broken up by smoke for that sinister atmosphere.
After a break i am going to start on the wall panelling, doing the "door" sections first, then the C' Level Corridor entrance doorway panel, after that the "Claw Room" doorway panel. the last element of the Garage Bay will be the columns ( saving up lots of Foil roll tubing for that!! ), The Emergency suit and helmet rack located next to the Tractor Unit, A healthy stack of "Shark" toolboxes and cases, and finally the ceiling panel itself. So a fair bit of work to come before the diorama will be completed but i really hope well worth it!

A nice brooding shot of the Tractor Unit,

The classic shot of the Tractor Unit from the VTOL Craft--Only Parker and Lambert are missing from this shot!

A three quarter rear view of the VTOL Craft,

A three quarter front view of the VTOL Craft,

Enjoy!!

Looking good for sure (I like the one with the lighting...very Alien for sure).
I kinda like your wash; with the type of final shot you'll pull, it's going to look great. Sometimes, the wash has to be slightly exagerated Wink
