Looks to be one of the Deckard/police stunt versions. They were made for some of the police as well, or reused as such. Deckard's actual stunt in the scenes shown had recast clear amber grips put on it, and you can see one of those at the Seattle Sci-Fi Museum (now called MOST I think). This one looks to be very similar to the one Screenused owns and has on their website. Could be the same one. Not really used for any close ups, but very cool none the less.

It looks like this is the screenused.com one they used to have in their personal collection. The painted grips can be seen on the police in several pictures. I think it was an attempt to recreate the amber grip look, but came across as wood grain. Not surprisingly many early replica makers made them wood grips.

I'd be ready to bid on the fact its new owner resides in France and is the same person that already has an original Deckard costume in his collection...

Sorry to be a skeptic, but has anyone seen the provenance of this piece? What I saw on the auction site wasn't enough to convince me that this piece was genuine.
Call me cynical but I saw a rubber casting from a stunt version mold, that happened to be painted up nice. $14K for that, without solid proof and documentation that it was used on set, seems like a lot.
I hope someone can point me to the provenance. I work in a field where provenance of authenticity is crucial, so this stuff interests me. Don't mean to be a (potential) spoil-sport. |

Screenused has a pretty good reputation for getting provenance on their pieces, but they have made mistakes before (i.e. the FLW Apartment tile that is obviously in reverse orientation to the film), and they don't seem to offer the provenance in the auction information. The main things that seem to help it are the age in the finish, and the green paint residue where the LED's would have been on the sight rod. This was certainly the state in hand long before the Worldcon photos let those details out, because I remember it on their site from back then. At one time these things were fetching a few hundred dollars, but in the past 30 years the fake props have certainly got very sophisticated with the prices reaching insane levels. Some even have decent provenance. Would love to hear this history of this piece none the less. Who knows for sure after so many years have past? Still these auctions are usually Bonded, so if anything turns out to be faked, the buyer can usually get their money back.

This gun they sold has been part of Screenused's personal collection for years.
Knowing, like Andy underscored, that these guys are among the most professional and reliable resellers on the market, I have absolutely no doubt this gun is genuine.

Great item, well done for winning it. I am also fortunate to have a Stunt Blaster but the grips are not painted, they are actually amber. I believe that there were six stunt units made but only Deckards Stunt Blaster had the amber grips.
You can see mine on www.ridleyville.com and go to screen used.
