It wasn't supposed to happen until 1st Oct but today, 26 Sep, I had a replica Blade Runner PKD seized by HM Customs.
I'll be phoning them tomorrow and will update here when able.

Tough break man.I hope they let you have it or at least give you restitution. How ridiculous that a law abiding citizen can't have what is essentially a toy, aren't there more important matters for HM government to be concerned with! |

Ouch! I really wish I had words of wisdom that would see you through this! Good luck and keep us informed.

Update:
Well, it looks as though there was some 'crossed-wires'! I phoned them this morning and they said there wasn't a problem - just that charges needed paying...
I was all ready to give 'em both barrels!
Still, another few days and it might have been a different story.
Looking at the whole thing though, I have a strong belief now that replica props (which aren't props of real-world firearms) will get through eventually even if customs do ping them. Politely worded phone calls and/or letters giving details of the origin and nature of the prop should win the day.

I have a feeling the worst part of the ban will be the initial few months while they are trying to show they are doing something. Then after a while they will back off and be a little more random, and many collectors will start to find out ways around it. Glad things worked out for you, and now that you have your Coyle metal, I don't think you will have to worry much anymore, Just don't play with it outside |

I did actually email UK Customs and Excise (or whatever they are called now) and posted their response in the following thread:
http://propsummit.com/viewtopic.php?t=620
The general jist seemed to be a little vague in terms of whether you can - they stated that you can import anything that doesn't look like a firearm (so a SidKit is fine) but as soon as you put it together, it then looks like a gun and it therefore illegal again!!!
Thanks,
Chris

Well, I've ordered the Sideshow Hellboy 'Samaritan' pistol, and it's being supplied from their European warehouse, which is actually based in the UK, so it looks like business as usual! |
