PKD from australia up on ebay - Recast?

Hi guys, whilst still actively pursuing a decent cheap option for getting a PKD for my father, I stumbled across this.

Any ideas of its origins? looking at the sellers feedback, he seems to sell a lot of these - which makes me think it's a recast, but from the pics, it looks like a half decent budget option.

What do you reckon?

It is a recast Rick Ross PKD-2. They aren't the worst cast, but will take a bunch of bubble filling. Rick has no issue with these he told me, because no longer sells the PKD-2, since he sold his masters and molds to EDC/Charles Wallace, who never really produced them after a point, even after still selling them.

Matsuo is also coming out with his version of the PKD-2 at some point as well, but not sure when. That one will be fully authorized by Rick too, and may be customized by Matt, as well as having metal bit parts, and also likely have an aluminum cold cast resin version. Still may be a while for them to come out.

What Andy said. The kit has suffered a bit of shrinkage. The grips are small and the receiver feels small too.

The australian kit is pretty rough. I bought one and will sell it to you for less than you can get it on ebay if you are interested.

I just bought one, and received it on Friday. I am moving house at the moment but will post my thought on it and try for some detail pictures. I got it as I am in Sydney and it is way easier that getting one from Melbourne than risking a top quality one to get through customs here.

This will be my first PKD bit not my first resin kit.

Looks excellent, can't wait to get started on mine. Still in the box, damn house moving.

Here is a look at what came in the box, the contents are all nicely bubble wrapped with a 6 page double sided set of instructions that look like they are from an original kit. The grips are very clean with no bubbles with a good uniform colour. The main grip looks to be a little distorted.

Are the triggers fixed on these? Or are they spring loaded?

In mine the instructions are for the spring loaded version but the kit just comes with 2 individual triggers with no spring loading. Have not had time to see if you could possibly fit the springs.

It's easy to spring load the triggers. When you pin the trigger, just use a spring from a pen, cut down until it fits in the body between the back of the trigger and epoxy it to the back of the trigger. This lets you remove the trigger to adjust the tension by cutting the spring down or stretching it.
