|
|
Hey all
So I was dead set on buying one of Kurtyboys Leon photo sets.
And, to be honest, I may well still do that.
However, after hours pouring over images on the net, I have happened upon a few images that I reckon with a little love and attention, could allow me to make these replicas by myself.
But, I've been studying the DVD and screenshots of the scenes where the photo's are present, and I'm struggling to work out the sizes.
There is obviously the polaroid of Zora, so the size of that one is easy enough to find out. But then there are the landscape shots, which I think are 6inchs x 4inches, and then some portrait pics that seem to be a non standard size.
Can anyone help me out with some accurate measurements?
I would like to try and get these as accurate as possible.
Many Thanks in advance |

Ok, so I got impatient
I cracked out the final cut DVD when I got home, and starting screen capping.
Looking at Kurty's pics, the movie, and multiple photo's of peoples displays. I think I'm safe with the 6x4 ratio, at least for these first 3 replicas.
I've got 3 more to make with the black border, and polaroid logo at the bottom, and I'll also be making the Esper print out of Zora

Hi, I have a set of photos and the first 3 you have shown are indeed 6x4. The mirror close up, sun lounger and back of Roy on chair (at least I think its Roy, think I need glasses) are 4 1/4x3 1/4 and the man with young boy is 3 1/8x3 1/8.
If you have a spare polaroid of Zhora going in the future I'd be interested as I don't have that one and I'm useless at all this computer stuff.
Cheers Rupe. |

Thanks
With regards to having a spare Zora.
I have no intention of ever reselling these. Just wanted to have a set to add to my movie prop collection.
I would be more than happy to send you a hi res JPEG of it though once it's done. |

Heheh... yeah, break it up!
Kurty's main pics are 6X4 (or 4X6 depending on where you are located in the world) and he did a fair amount of work cleaning them up and printing them out on satin textured photo paper. Kevin Bullmer (of SynDime.com) also provided the four main "Leon" photos for free a few years back, and if you look around on the forum you can probably still find a valid link to them.
Ah, I found the links to those images - they are actually still up on his site and here they are:
http://syndime.com/RPF/photos01.jpg
http://syndime.com/RPF/photos02.jpg
They are at 200 DPI and are half the resolution of Kevin's original/own images and that of KurtyBoy's but they're free. I originally printed these out myself on high-gloss photo paper and affixed them to a heavy photo matte.
I've looked extensively at KurtyBoy's work vs. Kevin's vs. WhiteFall's (yes, I have all of WhiteFall's images too) and while they all have their own merits, I think KurtyBoy's work is the best. That's just my opinion but he's done a huge amount of work trying to bring forth as screen accurate images as he can without compromise. WhiteFall's work is excellent but not necessarily screen accurate, and I've only seen what little work of Kevin's as he has made available, which isn't a lot.
If anyone would like my copies of Kevin's "Leon's Photo's" I printed too big at 6 & 5/16 X 4 & 3/4 on a solid 1/16th mat board, let me know. They do have slight impressions lines from the rule I used to cut them out, and the image of Batty shot from behind has my thumbprint in the center of the far left edge but other than that they are very clean. They do curl slightly to the center on the horizontal axis, but that's due to the mat board they are affixed to. I have no use for them, so if you'd like them let me know.

Thanks for the kind words on my replicas.
By the way, the sizes of 4 1/4x3 1/4 and 3 1/8x3 1/8 are just my closest guess based on some very rough scaling from screenshots. Who knows how close they are! |

I just got my 30th anniversary edition, and the new BluRay format does not allow screen caps. Very interesting. Apparently the technology uses the video card to create a "hole" in your screen through which the movie plays. You cannot prtscrn, alt+prntscr, snippet, or any other method usually applied through Windows. There may be software available to circumvent this, but for most of the world they will not be able to screen cap without using an external camera.

Might be interesting to see if Apple computers are having the same (Blu Ray) screen cap problem. |

Just found out "snag-it" doesn't work either. Word on the web is that the film industry cracked down on the software industry, including microsoft, power dvd, and others, with actual or threatened lawsuits.
Anyone having successes? Please share your insight.
Thanks,
Dave |

TFS Dave...too bad it came to that; Lord knows we need screencaps I'm sure someone will find a way to go around that pesky trick soon enough. |

I found these online and they may be something that some of you need for your collections.
