Hello, this is my first post here so be a bit gentle okay? Wink
I've found something interesting in the commentary of Alien from Ridley Scott himself about the dipping bird (I hope this is new);

"I've always wanted to pull of this idea that... that crazy bird in the middle of the kitchen, which is dipping into water...uhm..because I was gonna use that later, just prior to the Nostromo exploding, I'll explain that later.."

VERY unfortunately, he never came back to it ;(

and I never saw the dipping bird again in the movie, or am I missing something?

And about the Gashapons: He explained that too!
I'll post that a bit later here. (if it's not already said)

Let me tell you guys Remy is about as hardcore of a fan of ALIEN as it gets!
he was using the Aspen gold Beer cans as a real way to drink beer from...and a little leaked out of the bottom. we may need to try to set him up with one that is opened on the top and untouched on the bottom. Just wow. That is a great Idea. I need to see if Fred can make a couple opened up top!!

Thanks everyone! and JTP; yes, that actually was true, Wink
I thought it was a fun idea for a custom-themed party!

I'll post the bit where Ridley Scott is talking about the Gashapons now;

"I filled the Nostromo with all these toys from the various gift shops around the universe... wherever they'd stopped off..and that's what these little toys were. I always figured that; wherever you go, there'll be gift shops... so that's how the hawaiian shirt (Brett) appeared and that's how the dipping bird appeared and... that's the toys"

PS. He was talking about this in the scene where Ash was 'doing' Ripley with a magazine

Welcome Remy.

We have a thread somewhere on that magazine here. This place has the habit of turning usually inexpensive non interesting items into very expensive and sought after stuff.

Can finish mine too Fred. Got my feathers etc.

That was the only clear shot. The other had what looked like lines of typed text.

Oooch, I still remember the feathers were hard to glue to the bottom of the birds, I had superglue all over my fingers (with feathers sticked to them, of course)... Good luck Colin, I mean it !

Thank you again for the pic ! (BTW, is this the bird with the long or the short nose ?) (yes, believe it or not, the birds had different beaks... One is shorter than the other)

Fred
