I had a bit of BS from him too.

Wouldn't trust him but that's just me.

No they don't, as it's a customs return under the Royal Mail service , the duty of care is only to the forwarding in country post office, in this case Italia Mail, there is no onward track and trace to the regional depot, so , I can confirm it was never recieved into this country and can prove it was returned to Italy ,but cannot prove it was returned to the sender and this is where we are and he still refuses to refund me my payment, as I have absolutely no proof that he ever got it - apart from the fact that he seem's to be selling it again and again!! so I am down over £350 and nothing to show for it ! thing is, I could buy and sell everyone he's got as I get asked for them almost every day !! at the minuite everyone's a Coyle

Hi, my name is John and it's my first time posting on this excellent site. Should've done it earlier. I also recently bought a Sidkit from this person. I'd heard alot about this particular model, and as you do, you think, got to have one. I originally didn't win it, and then got a Second Chance Offer from E-bay. Accepted, paid, then waited. Now, in the Listing, it does say that they would post after recieving payment, up to 2 weeks! The first box did indeed arrive after 2 weeks, but when I opened the box (this was before I realised that they had sent the item in 2 boxes!), discovered only the upper half had been sent, and I immediately thought, what the hell is this..., as you do. So, sent them some E-mails asking what was going on. Nothing! After getting some advice, I opened an 'Item Not As Described'' case, and right enough, got a reply finally, later on in the evening, that same day. They said that they had sent the item in 2 boxes to evade Customs, and that I was not to worry, that I'd recieve the second box. Well, I'll give them their due on that one, as it did arrive the following morning. Not being a propmaker or modelmaker, I was then faced with having to put the handgrip onto the mainframe of the blaster myself, even though they described the item as being already assembled. Now, it does look amazing, I'll say that, though if I ever get round to completing the painting etc, of the blaster, that'll be a whole other ballgame. Just to say that, as for items like this coming into the U.K., I don't know too much, though the earlier posts have explained some of the Legal stuff. It's a cracking piece, but I think the person needs to be more open as regards the selling of this item. At least half a dozen have been sold this year so far, and at time of posting, there is indeed another one on E-bay. Hope this helps, and look forward to more posts, cheers, John.

Welcome John...don't be shy and post pics of the gun, (even if it's not completely finished) we'll be happy to see it.

Thanks for the quick reply, you never know with forums, people are so busy nowadays. I will indeed post some pics if you are interested, I have alot of questions to ask you all. I'm not technically minded, so will get my wife to explain to me what to do, and how to send them. Cheers, John.

I don't know if you had the time to browse our site, but Andy is the specialist for the history of the gun, the different makes on the market (or Ebay) and what you'll get for your money (plastic, metal/half & half, etc). Rich makes a hell of a great gun and he's doing a special run for us guys on the board (check out the Prop Shop) and of course the Blaster section on how to build the stuff! Also Propjonnyb: based in the U.K. and the official carrier of the Coyle version (Rich)...so if one day you'd decide to buy it, you won't have to be worried about the U.K. gun laws

Cheers for the info., I'm beginning to realise just how much BR related material there actually is out there. As promised, a couple of pics of the All Metal Sidkit I recently purchased. Alot of work needed to be done. I know I'm not competent to even attempt to disassemble and paint the blaster, even though it would be good. At the moment, I'm quite happy to achieve a 'shine'. Any ideas as to what substance or dubbing to use?, as it's made of pewter? Or is there another thread to ask these sorts of questions? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks again, John.

Yep, that looks like a Sidkit: good stuff. As you'll see there's a lot of possibilities as how to finish the blaster. If you want the same look as the one in the film there's a few techniques that you can use: one is blueing the gun and paint the plastic part black and even painting the inside of the grip black and the back of it also (again, Propjonnyb, Rich, Staar and others are the specialists here and you can always fire them a PM with your questions)...you can also leave it "as is", but since it's all pewter, you'll have to be carefull when polishing it with a motorized tool (Dremel or other) the heat will melt your gun! Crying or Very sad . Do it by hand Wink good results and less tears.

The waiting is a killer. I purchased a kit from Michelle on the 14th. Still waiting and no replies to my emails.

I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole as an individual - he still refuses to refund my money!, but the gun is ok in terms of the parts, he got most of the manufactured Sidkit parts remaining when Siderio died , he just puts the bits together - but he still ships it in two parts and doesn't bother to paint it to meet requirements , so it is unfortunately 'illegal' when it enters the UK unless you have an import license - I've built up four for customers so far, it can be made, painted and finshed to match a Coyle.

Hi, hope you got my reply John, certainly interested. You guys will know more about this. Is it just a case of the person cashing in on Siderio's skills? Usual scenario when a famous person passes away.

I do believe it is , he's trying to keep the price up, obviously but eventually he'll run out of parts - then there are none!!
