				| I've been out of the BR loop for a while (been making baby replicants!) but it's time to get back in.
About a year ago I came into possession of the 800 continuity photos used by Al Williamson to illustrate the Marvel Comics adaptation of Blade Runner.

Yes, it's as amazing as it sounds.

I thought I'd start us out on a new subject and a new prop to dissect.

 The VK Case-

 and the new pics! -

Don't worry, I'll begin posting the entirety of the image collection shortly. Mwa ha ha. I thought it'd be nice to begin with reference on a new project. I've looked around a little bit for the correct case with no luck. Hopefully you guys will help in the search for the correct case.

 Let the hunt begin.

 Nick

				| Wow, great news and great pics Nick Is there any good pics of the street cops in there?

The texture of the case in your pics suggests to me it was either produced from scratch or a mold was made of the original.
Has anyone seen a case with that rough texture before?

				| Yeahhh Thanks Nick to make those available to us...and yes Tim, it seems a one-off type of case made for the film. I've seen rough looking cases during my short life, but this one takes the cake (or the VK in this instance. We discussed the case on this board months ago and, as the pics show, the VK logo is on it at the front on that bevelled piece near the handle. It is, however, different than the case Deckard lugs from the car (arriving at the apt). Hopefully, we'll see more of the machine as well in these continuity shots. | |

				| Awesome photos Nick! That case kinda reminds me of a DIY style case. The type you get drills and power tools in nowadays.

 Thanks for sharing these.
Looking forward to seeing the rest as well:)

				| Very similar to cases used for broadcast video gear in the late 70's and early 80's..
 Interesting…..

				| Yes I though that's what it reminded me of Mark ., I've just collected from Customs a Haliburton case which I hope I can customise , its my intention to re-work Joberg's VK to fit in the case once I've finished . I'll post some photos of the case tomorrow . Without actually examining the case physically , it certaily looks as thought it was hand cast , roughly plaster a case you want to mould and then fabricate fiberglass shells inside , that typically give you on the surface that mottle effect I think we see. Add a hinge, a handle and clasps - and bingo!! a carrying case.

I cannot believe that there are over 800 photographs - what a treasure ! I can't wait , the anticipation is nearly killing me, but for me it's a complete bonus as I shall incorporate anything and everything I see for my VK project .

				| Nick,
Welcome back man and what an incredible score on your part. Thank you so much for sharing them with us. This is huge as they say.

I had a feeling that some of those pictures existed, just because I saw those shots in the comic book. Great that they were saved as a part of that project and someone who is so willing to share them, got them. You are the man for sure.

 Thank you,
 Andy

				| A suitable sized case, a fair few slats, 4 rubber grommet feet, two strips of square beading four pop rivets with washers and a good spray of hammerite plus a metal badge should do it - 'this is a job for offworld66 !' Hey Tim - I'm only joking ! but seriously do you concur with my brief assessment ?
And Nick an enourmous thank you in anticipation , just these few shots have been so informative .

Absolutely John, thats exactly how id do it. I just used some black hammerlite on my Mad Max RVS radio, i think around 4 heavy coats of the stuff would pull the look off.

That cororgation around the seams looks like the same stuff they used on the Gaff spinner helmet, i found a very similar product for mine, hard cororgated cardboard found at
office supply stores. a few coats of satin clear soon makes em hard as a cats head.

The ridges on the case can be replicated the same way i puts Deckards briefcase together and I would use a trophy maker or seller to make the small VK badges.

Far to busy to take on another project but if you can find a good source
for the basic case John and time to trim them, it certainly would be the cherry on your VK project.

				| Thanks TIm, really appreciate the tip re the cardboard - I wasn't suggesting you build it , but I'm glad you agree with my assessment! here's the shots of the Haliburton Case it's the large Camera case and is 20"x16"x9" cost me about $150 USD

Off to Stapes to see if I can find the cardboard .

				| As far as I know from my uncle's diaries , RS wanted everything to have great detail so he didn't want a bog standard case . So, I understand the props dept detailed up a lot of mundane household items to make them part of the BR world. The VK case was one of them, unfortunately there is no mention of what they did or what base case they used, but its got to be big enough to take the VK machine at 17" x12" x8". | |

				| I tend to think that it wasn't custom made.
You can see where they covered over a branding sticker in this shot.

 Sorta like this case-

 Also here's something interesting-

				| Yes it is very interesting, appears to be a dress rehersal , in the last two shots it looks like a 'normal' case and based on the table and items on it as reference, I estimate the case shown to be appx 20" x 16"x 9" | |
