Medicom Spinner. . . re-modded

Hi all.
I thought I had a thread here somewhere on my Medicom Spinner conversion, but I can't find it now.
Anyway. . . I got a Medicom "Future Car" sometime back in 2007 or so and did an exterior mod on it to turn it into a Spinner. I never messed with the interior, and had missed out on the interior conversion kit that was offered a while back. That is, until drmcoy put his up for sale!
I was very impressed when the kit arrived. I've worked with lots of resin kits over the last decade and this is one of the nicest kits I've seen! Very clean, detailed casts, and the parts fit perfectly into the shell of the Spinner.
I didn't take any progress shots while I was painting, but did snap a few shots before I reassembled the body shell.



I looked at all of Offworld66's pics from when he did his conversion and really liked the way the Tamiya metallic blue looked. So I used the same color. All of the interior pieces were airbrushed separately before assembly to make detail painting easier.



The fit tolerance on the parts is terrific! There's not a lot of room in the cockpit once everything is in there.



For detailing, I used some flat white, gloss red, flat yellow, flat black, and metallic silver.



The kit even came with decals for the 2 large instrument "pods." They may be kind of hard to make out in these pics, but the quality of the decals is just as good as any mass market model I've ever worked on.



Whew! Stage one complete. Next will be the light bars. I've never been good with electronics vs. models, so this Spinner will simply be a static display.

Thanks again! Yes, I'm really glad I was able to snag this kit. Really brings the Medicom car to the next level.
I haven't had a whole lot of time lately to work on hobby stuff, but I did get some basic painting and construction done.
Just used some silver and flat black so far to paint the light bars and the bases of the dome assemblies. I really like that the kit included the little reflectors for inside each dome.



I made the holes in each lightbar with a tiny pin vise set. They are where the dome lights will attach. I've mounted them onto thin styrene rods and they'll be inserted so they fit above the rectangular flashers. I still need to get some clear paints to paint the domes and lenses.



More to come! Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Complete!
Had a nice holiday weekend and I was able to finish up the final details on the Spinner's lights. I got some acrylic stained glass paints in blue, red, white, amber, and yellow and painted the lenses and domes. These were pretty easy to work with. They came in plastic squeeze bottles and I just squeezed a small amount onto each clear piece and used a soft brush to spread the color around till it covered evenly.



I gave each lens a couple of coats, letting the color build up rather than trying to lay it on heavily. The only one I had issues with was the amber color. It wouldn't smooth out as easily as the others, so I had to do a couple of extra coats. This caused a loss of the translucent effect on those 3 domes.



But I really like the way this conversion turned out! It'll go back on display with the other items in my Blade Runner collection inside a nice plastic display case.

Second on my list after Tim's own version of the Medicom Spinner (ah, those mini flashing lights !) but great work anyway, you can be proud of what you've done here, especially the paint job on the interior details !
