Hi joberg,
WOW!!!! What can I say??? You sir are both a craftsman and an artist!!! I had the "Dinky Toys" version of this as a kid in the '70s but it came in totally the wrong colour, green!!! Then again I also had a Dinky Toys Thunderbird 2, but that came in blue!!!
Your version is perfection itself!!! For those who don't have a clue what on "earth" we're talking about, and for misty eyed nostalgia for those of us who do, here is a clip from "UFO" Notice the Shado "Mobile Control" at about 0:37-0:49!!!

Brilliant job, thanks again for sharing.
Have a better one,
Mike. _________________ One more question. You're watching a stage play. A banquet is in progress. The guests are enjoying an appetizer of raw oysters. The entree consists of boiled dog.... |

Thanks guys for the positive feedback; again the majority of that model is made out of cardboard, plasti-card and all sorts of greeblies.
Yes Mike, I was very dissapointed with my green UFO mobile, but also with my green Moon Interceptor I don't know why Dinky Toys would, sometimes get the colours right (think about Captain Scarlet's vehicules, or Lady Penelope's Rolls Royce, etc) and sometimes completely wrong?? |

I just have to put in my $.02 and say that's a truly marvelous reproduction, first rate! I've recently "rediscovered" UFO, and the props/vehicles. You've done the SHADO mobile justice, sir!

Hi joberg,
My Moon Interceptor was green too!!! I think Dinky must have bought a "job lot" of that bloody green paint back then. The command module and landing leg housings of my "Space 1999" Eagle Transporter were also painted in the same damn green, but I saw that some Dinky Eagles came painted white As you say, sometimes they did it right and sometimes horribly wrong, even on the very same model (my Eagle for example!). There seemed to be no rhyme nor reason to it!!! What were they "smoking" back then???

Truly a fantastic piece of work, all you need to do now is add Radio Control !! I've had the opportunity to see the Studio Scale real ones and to examime them in detail and I can say your replica does you justice ! it would just fit right in !! Be proud of your creation and my very best congratulations on producing such a fine model , could I suggest a UFO in the same scale to chase !??! |

Thanks PropJohnny, (you lucky guy) but this is a one time build (a friend's request) and he's only interested in the SHADO hardware; as soon as he has the money, he'll order an Moon Interceptor (bigger challenges ahead for me). |

Your friend is one lucky person.
The best scratch built model I think I've ever seen. |

Thanks Neil...I'm afraid that for the Moon Interceptor the amount of cardboard will be limited (too many curves on that baby) |

Thanks Fred...funny you have mentioned the driver; actually the size of the Mobile was built around the driver (a DS9 uniform if I'm not mistaken). It has happen before, sometimes people are not sure about the scale (what is 1/6 or 1/24? , or they like a certain character and want to see it in a vehicule I'm trying to tell a client that the Sandcrawler he wants will not fit in his apt. with the C3PO statue he gave me for scale |

A 10inch 3PO and he wants it to scale?!? Is he mad.
Maybe just the one room that it shows inside would be cool?
