I use a rubber cork for some bottles (better fit, never has to be trimed even if you think it's too big...the soft rubber will be squeezed into the opening). Some hardware store are selling them. |

I've had no luck finding a rubber cork that fits the neck of the bottle. I wound up using a wood cork from a rum bottle that I sanded down. Unfortunately in order to get a good seal I had to keep most of the cork intact so the cap winds up sitting higher on the bottle than it should.
/shrug at least I can store JWB in it now. _________________

I am still looking for the perfect cork. I was hoping a synthetic cork that was in a bottle of Phillips Union whiskey would fit but it is too small by the merest fraction. An ex-intern at our studio who is still in college has promised to hunt one down while at the many parties he attends. |

I stuck a cork from a wine bottle in mine. Worked just fine. |

Now if only we could get a friggen bottle made that didnt crack and that fit a standard type cover. If this does ever see the light of day again I say we find a cap that looks right and then design off of that. _________________ The other Karl! |

Let's dig up that old (albeit interesting)topic . I'm afraid that we'll never see an original used prop (either BR or Annie)...unless someone is in need of some serious dough (like Mr.X, having worked as the major visual effect guy on StarWars selling an original Tie Fighter )
I'm sure someone, somewhere has a bottle; he's not talking, 'cause it possible that, during production, it "dissapeared", or was borrowed...yeah, that's it: borrowed |

I was just looking at some screengrabs from the Annie Blu-Ray to see if the label on the bottle might give me some clue as to it's real world origins. No joy. This is as good as it gets.
The film is set during the prohibition era and Carol Burnett's character is drinking homemade 'Bathtub Gin'.
We see her sat in said tub at one point.
We also see her swigging the Gin from various types of bottle that were clearly designed for other purposes.
So OUR bottle wasn't necessarily meant to be a liquor bottle.
Frustratingly, an IMDB user has correctly identified some of the other bottles!

Looking at that picture and how she is holding it: perhaps suggests it might be fairly light..she does not seem to be holding it tightly, as one would do with a heavy glass bottle…
And as this was a bath tub scene could it be a lighter plastic bottle that once held bubble bath soap?

Sorry Rich, to clear up the confusion.
This still is from a later scene in the film when the bottle makes it's second appearance. It's never seen in the bathroom with Carol. Also, the bottle is most definitely plastic as we established a while back. You can tell not only from the way the young girl handles it but from the sound it makes when she tosses to the floor.
My point was because Carol Burnett is seen swigging homemade Gin from Ink bottles, our bottle could also have had a different use. Bubble Bath, Olive Oil etc etc. Who knows? |

I've never seen that movie but I'm well aware of the famous plastic bottle used by the cast. My question is: do we actually see Carol Burnett drink from that bottle; meaning that there's liquid in it?! |

Yeah, about 6 minutes into the movie she staggers in clutching said bottle and it's 3/4 with Gin (obv. water). |

I'm asking because, according to my source, all the plastic bottles in BR were vacu-formed from the original...and they all leaked when they try to fill them with liquid (that's why there're the only empty bottles on set).
Unless C. Burnett is using a glass one |

Bryant's bottle holds liquid reasonably well and that one looks (and sounds) plastic to me.
Carol Burnett's bottle looks very plastic on the Blu Ray and is likely the exact same one the orphan girl uses later (which is undoubtedly plastic).
OR maybe Carol Burnett uses a glass one and the other one is plastic for safety reasons as its being used by kids in a dance number.
The curious thing about the bottle is that there seems to be no way of attaching a screw cap (In BR, Bryant seems to mime this) , suggesting the original may have had a cork or clasp. |

Bryant is def glass...as for the Burnett one, it does seem like plastic.
Might be that the leak in her bottle is only partial (seems that the bottle is only filled at the bottom part) and maybe and that's a big maybe, the leak is at a certain place along the seams and she was asked to drink holding it a certain way? Probabilities of course. |
