A Dremal and a belt sander is a good idea.
The 4 inch wide with a 6 inch disk that is sold at Harbor Freight is fine.

Rich emailed me this, I asked if he minded if I posted to the board. He said I could. So here is his email.
As you maybe following, All of this has been inspirational!!!!
In many ways, knowing that I have a bunch of good orders freed me to take some time to rework these parts.
I am really down to splitting very fine hairs on these details. Ed and I have been swapping emails and pictures back and forth.
I have really enjoyed finishing this model to this degree.
Thanks for all your help with the List and posting images.
Right after Xmas I start casting the new model parts!
Not everyone has checked in with me by email.
I really would like them to do so, so I can keep track of who is waiting and who has received their model.
Rich
So congrats guys!!!!!! Looks like your orders and excitement has turned this into a better prop than ever before! We of course will still need to put it together! LOL!
ALSO!!!!!
Pm or email rich your info so he has it on hand!!!!!
AKA: your handle here and your real info and shipping address! _________________ The other Karl! |

Please email me at racprops@cox.net, that way I keep all of these in folders in my mail folders and can keep better track of who's who and what is due and what has been shipped and so on.
Thanks all of you.

i have three questions but one probably has an obvious answer already
this kit does include lights correct? and all the needed pieces to wire it up right such as a diagram? (tools obviously wouldnt be included )
also is it possible to install a small sounds unit in this kit i know hyperdyne use to make a pkd sound board and was wondering if it was possible to install such a feature?
also any time frame on when these kits will start going out or how payments will be handled (paypal check money order that sort of thing) ? |

Some will be: Allen tools and perhaps a good 4/40 tap

My first all metal runs of the early model WAS a sound and light system, with a charge up sound or a “Weapon Armed” then a firing sound effect…You have to leave out the Cylinder for the driver board, speaker and micro switch in its place, so yes It can be done.

I kind of thought that was up to the orders, who wants theirs ..when..
I figured to start casting early January, for new models and for the kits…
So who wants their kits in Jan?

OK Please email me with a Yes for Jan or a No: I need to wait.
( For the No's please If you can say how long you think the wait will be)
My thinking is I will get the kits ready and then ask for payment.
So a number of how many for Jan will help.
Thanks.
Rich
PS please also include which your getting: Basic, Upgrade, with or without Stand.

Well I'm in .....( gonna have to go without the topping on my pizza for a while on this one but ...)
The project looks too good to be true and after the numerous times I have kicked myself for selling the sidkit I entered in the show/build off contest , I gotta throw my name in the hat!
ALSO I would like to add that I am in no push to get the kit by the end of the day, gonna take me a while to save up so add me to the no rush list.
One thing I would ask is an explanation of what is what as far as the standred and deluxe versions.
Is there a thread or breakdown of whats involved/included in each? _________________ I've seen things ....you people appear to be intrested in ... |

I've got a couple questions too, if I may.
Which parts need a belt sander? Will the raw castings be "clean", i.e. smooth and straight with just flash to remove or will we need to do a lot of grinding to smooth things, fill bubbles/pits and straighten out stuff? (Just asking 'cause I know raw pewter casts can be pretty rough sometimes as I've done it myself.)

Rich has said that the Deluxe will basically be ready to assemble- IE just screw the whole thing together and do the finishing (paint, bluing). The stardard will be "raw" in that you need to do all the drilling, tapping, sanding and so on. _________________ //Joe

Great new news:
I just picked up the run of triggers, hammer, hammer lever, hammer spring pin and thumb release made in ZINC.
This is a much harder and toughter metal for these working parts.

Rather than go over all of it again please check page three for pictures and please read all the posts as you will see how things have come along.
Thanks.

Take a look at page three for pictures.
I use a belt and disk sander combo, and the main part that really needs the belt is the handle and grip finishing of the end.
I get a special made 340 grit 4 by 40 belt and it can be used to flatten and smooth many parts like the triggers, hammer, ends of the covers.
Again I tried to photo the basic model note the indents marking and helping start your drilling.
