Went back to the engine for a bit. added the ribbed sections on the bottom, also need to skin it in styrene. the middle part needs to be adjusted to better represent the original part. finally found something that will work for the main exhaust , but i need to mold it .
Heres a few pics. questions, comments. feel free.
Thanks for looking.
Al

Can't wait to see how you're going to recreate the cockpit !!! (and I don't talk about your Narcissus project !)

Thanks guys.
yeah the cockpit will a challenge, but thats what i love about this stuff.
As for the narcisus, ive got a enough reference to start, i just need to find some dimensions on the actual model and see what scale i want to build her at. im thinking around 2 feet in length should be good.

Ok. finally started on the flight deck. what a pain in the butt. started roughing out the basic shape. this is going to take a while. want it to be the best looking part on the model. im using urethane foam, and skinning it with bondo. then i will add the details at the end and prime.
questions,comments feel free.
Thanks Al

The overall shape looks spot-on Al...very good job so far.
Question: I would like to try using urethane foam as a buck for vacu-forming...any tip you could give me would be helpfull (any releasing agent I have to use on the foam, or do I have to use bondo to make the buck stronger)? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks. |
