Way cool Rich!...yeah, my Father always told me that when a costume looks very good on screen, it's probably a pain in the a$$ for the actor to wear ...I never believed him until I acted in a few films/plays then I understood: it's never confortable!! |

Too cool Richie. Loved it when Danita turned around and found an facehugger on her back.
I hope she's in quarantine now though? |

That is just fantastic. Thanks so for for posting these. The weathering on the suits, and the lights just look awesome. |

I found evidence of what we were talking about in page 4 of this thread :
They had 2 Kane EVA suits made during the production of A L I E N (I'm only talking about the soft parts here).
Take a look at this production note I found while browsing www.alienexperience.com forums, straight from Jon Sorensen's archives :
It underscores the fact that they had a "double costume for Kane". That would explain the "butt patch" continuity error on some scenes involving this character.
Please look here for photos : http://www.propsummit.com/viewtopic.php?t=1387&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=60
It finaly means that :
Kane with US tricentenial butt patch = John Hurt
Kane with UK tricentenial butt patch = Stuntman
I wonder which version of the suit the Propstore of London guys currently have in their collection ? Hurt's or stuntman's ?
That would make a (little) difference in terms of "how iconic" their costume is... at least to me !

Excellent detective work Fred: yeah, you're right! It makes a difference in price whether it's Kane's suit or the stunt's suit |

Thats awesome find Fred
Hard to pinpoint as I beleive both suits were missing the "butt patch". I know the one at Bob Burns is missing its patch. Stephen may be able to tell us if his suit at PSOL has its original patch.
It was a shock when we found out Bob Burns has had a Kane suit in storage for 30 years..no one but he knew itw as there!!
I would like to track down all of the suit owners.

Thanks a lot for underscoring that, Richie ! (and thanks a lot for your appreciation, guys)
When did Bob Burns tell you he had this Kane suit ??? I don't remember seeing this info before ?
Fred
PS : There's maybe a label inside somewhere that says if its the stunt or John Hurt's version of the suit ??? _________________ THE FUTURE IS A THING OF THE PAST

Thanks Fred!
I was looking in the wrong place, I thought he'd posted a gallery of stuff similar to Terry Rawlings' script etc.

You're welcome, Harry !
You could consider those posts by Jon Sorensen as a gallery of his A L I E N stuff, in a way...

Hi,
There were two suits. Bob Burns had a shut that had not seen the light of day since he got in in 1979 until he brought it out for Danita and me to see.
After looking at the suits... Bob's is the double suit. The stichwork is not as nice as the Prop Store suit. Also the Double suit Bob has has dyied yellow lace as the hero suit is tan.
I will post some pictures for you to see. There is a shot of kane walking up into the ship that has the Yellow Lacing. I can't find it how but I know someone can post it. It also has the UK patch (Double)
Additionally. The pads on the Double suit are samon color the Hero is more yellow/orange
Bob's suit (Double) Yellow lace
Prop Store suit (hero) Tan Lace
Best

Awesome Stephen!
Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos.
I love how after all these years we're still learning about this stuff.

Is that the stuntman Derek Holt wearing the suit in the 4th shot down? If so, it would explain who my Hot Toys Kane figure used to look like before I customized it.... |
