I remember that 30 or 40 years ago, the prop market was very small and only known by professionals in the business, or avid collectors.
Nowadays, and certainly after the succes of StarWars and the Internet, the business of prop collecting has exploded in such a way that we have now items such as: "Plastic barrel used in Batman Returns, seen for 1 second in the movie (pics of the shot, with the barrel) blah, blah, blah...price: $1000 Shocked Ridiculous Rolling Eyes

...and they wonder why there is so much quality fan-made stuff around nowadays.

I hear ya about the quality of fan made items.
I've always thought that if I had a screen used prop in my collection, I'd be terrified that something would happen to it, or I'd break it or something.
But if I can get a replica that looks exactly like what's seen on screen, I'm happy to display it.

Well, it depends what kind of original prop you have in your collection...

I personaly own 2 packs of cigarettes from CHILDREN OF MEN and they're far less fragile than OB's BLADE RUNNER wiskey bottle !
