				|
 |
				| This thread has been quite quiet of late so I thought I would share these:

I was very lucky to acquire a metal SidKit (# 114) and I have spent many a wonderful hour indulging in building, painting, finishing and rusting the blaster.

For me, its a prop first and foremost and I've never regarded the blaster as something the character Rick Deckard did actually carry - because as Ford so eloquently stated in an interview: "Fuck it, its only a movie!". Since my feelings towards the blaster are firmly rooted in the real world, I made the decision to try and make it reflect the prop as we know it from the great photo's of Karl T.

Since the general opinion out there appears to be that the SidKit is not 100% accurate (not that I care), and since there are far more gifted builder's amongst the members here, I decided to concentrate on the aesthetic elements and correct only those parts that I felt were simply too far off the mark. I wanted the used look we saw in the original photoset and aside from a few items that I will upgrade/change in the future, I'm generally very happy with the result...

As always, the photographs don't do the finish justice, but they give a reasonable preview of how its turned out.

Obviously, none of this would have been possible without this forum - and so to everyone here on Propsummit, I extend my grateful thanks!

I have added a web resource that shows the WIP. Please click on the banner below....

				| HOLY COW !!!
It's sooooo PERFECT that I thought for 1 minute you had acquired the real prop !!!!!!!!

Definitely one of the best re-creation of the blaster I've ever seen here... congrats, Staar !!!

				| It may not be 100% accurate, but you certainly did justice to it. That is outstanding work. _________________

				| Staar,
Even though the Sidkit may not be perfect, your finishing work is. I love it when an artist works on one of these replicas. Absolutely outstanding.

				| Many thanks to everyone for the kind words. It goes without saying the I regard approval from this forum as coming from the highest possible quarter. After all, there are members here who know more about this topic than anyone else alive.
In case anyone is interested, I have added a web based resource that shows the WIP of the build. I have also added a gallery with new pictures which might be of some interest.....

				| Very cool, and some new ideas that I am sure to try. The only criticism is that Sid's name is spelled Siderio with a second "I".
Awesome work. I have a feeling your tutorial will become the new standard.

				| I discovered that while taking pictures of my SidKit that I had ended up with three images that were very similar to the Profile Auction shots of the original prop.
The lighting is not the same but I thought that those members who are interested in making a detailed, side-by-side comparison between a SidKit and the original prop, these pictures afforded an opportunity to see the distinct differences between the two.

Although I originally shot my blaster on a white backdrop, I have etched them out and put them onto backgrounds similar to that seen in the original prop shots. I also resized mine so that it matched the original. The only photoshop treatment I did (aside from cutting them out) was to subtly change the color of the grips seen in set #1. In set #3, my blaster was shot lying on its side so here I twisted it to the upright position and reorientated the card so it looked like it was lying flat.

I hope you find them interesting...
