I really enjoy looking through the Alien section here on Propsummit, but I have to admit, I have no Alien props (although I love the movie).

For that, I sort of feel like an outsider to this prop collector niche.

So I ask, what are the "essential" Alien props (just from the first movie that is) out there in a collector's collection?

For example, I would consider a blaster, a Cibi whiskey glass, and an opium duck to be essentials in a Blade Runner collection.

Educate me, please! Wink

Interesting question!

I don't think there have been that many replica props from Alien. Perhaps the film is simply not as 'prop-heavy' as some of our other favourites.

That said, the most obvious ones that spring to mind would be the flamethrower, motion tracker and cattle prod. Some of these have been built, with varying degrees of success.

Then there's the pistol, beer can and possibly even the MUTHUR key? Thing with those last three is that they're getting pretty obscure. The kind of props where even after you explained to someone what they were, they still wouldn't recognise them. Rolling Eyes

Apart from that... I'm struggling! Personally I like the patches, but then you're getting into 'costume' rather than props.

I think Alien is prop-heavy and I mean HEAVY! You gotta list what's similar between BR's props/costumes and Alien's props/costumes.
Both have: blasters, glasses/cups, bottles/beer cans, portable machines: VK/detector, etc...I leave to you the costume part

Well if you are going to include the Opium (Hantha Bird) Duck for BR, the drinking bird toy is an easy one to find. Also the white tupperware mug. The Rexim Favor pistol of course. After that it is hard to say.

Don't feel like an outside Oldzey, i don't have any props from ALIEN either. It's still one of my favourite movies aswell.

As for essentials, i think the jacket has to be pretty high up there.

Well, seeing that I own one, I'd say the Nostromo EVA helmet.

If I had to start an A L I E N prop collection today, I would start with Montana's officer patches plus a few collar pins, a Nostromo mug and ashtray, a drinking bird (those vintage items are pretty easy to track on eBay if you know where to look).

Then I would move to more impressive stuff such as an ASPEN beer can ( ), morganthirteen's Nostromo pistol (and/or flamethrower) and, of course, Steve's amazing EVA suit helmet !

VoilĂ  !
