Saw it at age 12 in 1980.
My folks were pretty strict with "R" movies and we didn't have cable.
It was part of an all-nighter "Sci-Fi Night" at our local Science Center (Fantastic Planet was the only other one I remember just because it was so damn weird).
Anyways, they "bundled" Alien in there (which was the "meat" and was what I and all my friends were really going to see). Fortunately, it slipped under my folk's radar screen.
What more could you ask for as a 12-year old boy - horror, aliens, and Ripley topless (well, maybe a Missle Command, Asteroids or Defender Stargate game in my room would have been nice).
Two thumbs way up! |

...I was fortunate enough to see Alien the day it came out...first show eleven am in San Francisco....the chest burster scene made me regret having worn cut offs that day......many years later when laserdiscs were all the rage was thrilled to obtain both a Scott (Alien) and Cameron (Aliens) approved box set of the films that were in CAV format...which means I could watch the movies a single frame at a time...my then teenage son figured out a way to program the laserdisc player to collect all the "on screen" alien images from each movie and collect them in a pool and show at a very quick single showing.....the actual screen time for the Alien in the first movie was unbelievably brief...way more in the sequel.....all this LONG before DVD's became all the rage.....I watched these movies on my newer HDTV and the image was even crisper...it matches the latest and greatest five disc version...the only problem is that it's formated widescreen but for the old 4-3...back then there was no such thing as 16-9....anyway thats my story and i'm sticking to it.... _________________ ...the future is not all it's cracked up to be... |

I think I was 8 when I first saw it. My mom was opposed to letting me watch it, but fortunately my dad overruled her on that one. Scared the living shit outta me when I saw it. _________________
