Advice on Battery Size/Type Please?

Hi Guys

Hope someone can help me here with a bit of advice on battery size/type? I purchased one of Michelles BR Blasters from the ioffer.com website and to be fair to Michelle the kit was clearly sold as having no instructions......I have dissasemled, sanded, painted etc the gun and soldered all the 5 LED's for the light box/switch etc but I don't know what size/voltage battery to use? Does anyone know/figure if it would be the same type/voltage as Sid used for his metal kits? if so does anyone know what size/voltage battery he used for those?

I would be grateful as always for any advice from those in the know!!

You being from the UK too you know all about the problems that we have here getting replica prop guns like these so I was thrilled to finally have one now. Once I have it finished I will post some photos on here for people to see.......but I am well happy with it. I am going to go with Andy's suggestion over the battery size as I cant get hold of Michelle and other attemps to find out, thus far, have yielded nothing.

I was searching for what seemed like ever, lol.
I was lucky to get mine off someone already in the UK.
The feeling when i got one was amazing.
Can't wait to see the pics of your's all finished up.

That looks great Neil! Thanks for adding the photo. In an ideal world I would like a full metal version but I am happy with what I have for now! I will definitely post some photos soon and, as always, I value the opinion of the guys on here, yourself included! Do you have a large collection of BR stuff? essentially the other stuff I have is the ChinYen off world money, appatment card, Vidphon card and a couple of the Deckard credit cards (one Worldcard and one of the 'Put the Green back in your wallet' cards) I also got a pretty cool opium duck and small Buddha statue (both from Ebay) and a holster for the blaster from Phil Steinschneider (who in my opinion is a lovely guy to chat and deal with by the way). My final piece is a 2019 version of the ID/Wallet from Eltee on here......He is still actually working on it though as he has had to make changes to the ID card and the other photo items as his original sets were from the pre BR Deckard 2012 era. I am patiently waiting for him to finish that for me and then I will call the collecting a day for a while!! well for at least a few weeks anyway

I'd love a metal blaster aswell, maybe some day A holster aswell.
My BR collection isn't that large, compared to alot of members on here anyway.
All the items i do have i love to pieces, especially my "Leons Belongings", apartment card & VK card.
Fred & Beast are the best

Here is a quick photo of the blaster. It is minus it's lightbox whilst I try and sort out the correct type of battery and I am sure that some of the purists on here wont like the weaver knob and catch in base metal but I can always paint those later if I change my mind!!

I will post one of the finished article once I have the lights working but so far I am happy!!

Hi Neil

Thanks for the positive comments. It was good fun making the kit! Quite a bit of flatting/sanding with 1200 grit wet and dry paper was needed then I spot filled any pin holes/scratches with plumbers mait, resanded and then it all got 2 coats of Plastikote Primer. The final black finish was plastikote Satin Black (not as shiny as others I looked at) then the grip butt plate was done in Plastikote Aluminium. The wiring was pretty straight forward for the 5 LED's, now all I need is to get a battery and fix the battery holder in situ and away we go!! replicants in Guildford beware!!

Firastly you need to know the ratings for the LED's if you don't know them or aren't up to using a test meter, don't dispair , most 3mm LED's operate around 20milliamps so start with a 3v Lithium CR2 Duracell or any other equivalent , then move to 6v if the three doesn't work or is very dim the move up to 12v however, if there is no resistor in the circuit don't go to 12 v with out adding say a 10k ohm resistor to the positive lead of the battery. This won't do any harm to the circuit and will extend your battery life . Hope this helps!
